In a vote of 36-24, the NY State Senate voted against Marriage Equality, the largest percentile difference in the 'big' battles so far. Frankly, I am tired of getting my soul kicked in the ass. I am tired of being told either the voters or the elected officials think I am a lesser citizen, not worthy to privileges granted an apparently superior group of citizens. I am tired of thinking my country had eliminated the caste system, for it seems to be thriving. I am tired of religious belief trumping reasoned thought, in the halls of government and elsewhere. I am tired of the media creating icons, only to shoot them down the first chance they get. I am tired of religious institutions jumping in the middle of political issues while hiding behind the tax exempt status granted by the government. I am just tired. I will bounce back, but in the meanwhile, but for now, I'm tired.

I am tired too. When will our elected officials grow the balls to do the right thing?
ReplyDeleteXOXOXOXO
I so know what you mean. The constantly being told we are less, we don't deserve equal rights, we are possessed by the devil. Some days it drains me to the point where I don't even want to hear about it. I am tired too.
ReplyDeleteI tired, but I got some Red Bull to keep me going.
ReplyDeleteIt sickens me that this is still an issue. You know how I feel about religion and politics...this is a perfect illustration of why they should not tread on each other. This is purely and simply a civil rights issue, and it is really pissing me off to have religion invoked in this debate...which shouldn't even be taking place!
ReplyDeleteYou know that I certainly don't think you're a lesser citizen. I believe equality will prevail. I'm just sorry that's it's taking so damn long to happen. :(
Thank you all.
ReplyDeleteDavid, yep.
Michael, Just give us a chance to refuel, and we will be back. I feel it coming already.
Wonderman, you help to recharge me. You are amazing.
Beth, I know you care, and are on the right side of it all. Am on my way back, there is always more fight in this dog!
