Great Women - Patsy Cline

On March 5, 1963, the world lost an incredible talent, one that will not be forgotten. That woman with the a voice so special was Patsy Cline. When she sang a ballad, my heart dropped. When she sang bluegrass or honky-tonk, she lifted me up to the clouds.

I Fall To Pieces is the definitive song about love gone bad. The ache you hear has to be real.

Lovesick Blues is everything that is right with Country music. In 1973, Patsy was the first woman inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. I just hope the bitch is still singing, and meets me with a song when my time comes.

  1. Uh oh, Howard. I think you and I are on the same wavelength. I've been playing Patsy Cline all morning.
Well, not "playing" her as I don't look good in drag, but listening to her.
    And here she is again.
    I fall to pieces!

  2. I love Patsy Cline. I first became aware of her in the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter." One of my favorites. I'm a huge Loretta and Patsy fan. I listen to both often. And, of course, I sing along!

  5. Excellent description of her singing, Howard!

Mandy Barnett played her in "Always Patsy" at the Ryman for a couple of runs. It's just Mandy singing and another character who does the narration and reminds me of Flo on Alice. Good show if you ever get the chance to see it. I hope they do it again. Mandy has recorded some good CDs, but doesn't sound as much like Patsy as she does in that show where she is amazing. She has a website and is on Facebook.

  6. Joy, she was so tough to write about - words just didn't seem enough. Thank you for your kindness.
