I thought it was time to turn to the classics for the Sunday morning treat, so I am visiting with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli for inspiration. It is not hard to find it in Bocelli, who lost his sight at the age of twelve following an accident on the soccer pitch sped up the glaucoma diagnosed at birth. However, blindness did not stand in his way to making his way as a singer, as when he performs The Lord's Prayer with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
In 2008, he released an album called Sacred Arias, a collection of religious music that went on to sell over five million copies, and become the highest selling Classical music album to date. He offered some of the most beautiful Christian music, including César Franck's Panis Angelicus.
It also included the incredibly beautiful and moving requiem written by Verdi, Ingemisco.
You can purchase Sacred Arias on iTunes and Amazon. You can learn more about Andrea Bocelli on his official website.
