While Katy Perry might have written Firework and was the first to record it, but the song has been covered by many far and wide, and I thought it might be nice to include a couple of those as part of the celebration of July 4th on the blog.
First up I thought I would include this rather fascinating A Cappella version by Canadian Mike Tompkins. I don't know much about him, other than he was a beatboxer, and enjoys a certain amount of freedom with him covers of some of the hot Pop songs. He is creating all the sounds on this recoding with his vocal chords.

There is also a cool-sounding cover (at least to me) by Florida-based band, Boyce Avenue. The band is made up of three brothers of Ecuadorean heritage, making for an interesting sound. From what I've heard, there is this sweet acoustic rock music that is sounding really honest, with an interesting use of tempos and rhythms.
