Not only am I a fan of Tom Goss, but my sister and a couple of my nieces are as well. It is easy to understand, with his easy charm, striking good looks, and an inherent sweetness make him easy to love. And his talent, both as a performer and a songwriter make him someone I recommend heartily to others, with confidence they will see and hear what I do. I look forward to whatever music he is making, be it his amazing original songs or his creative treatment of cover songs.

The latest product from Tom is a cover song, working with model/blogger/actor/director/chipmunk enthusiast Max Emerson, who brings a strong helping of good looks and humor. Together they take on "I Don't Mind", a recent release from Usher, featuring rapper Juicy J. The original is a misogynistic ode to a stripper girlfriend that is, at times, rather cringe worthy. Tom and Max give it a bit of a makeover, offering an acapella version, laced with humor and self-awareness, making me smile and laugh as opposed to flinching and wincing. Michael V. Doane • Looking For Love

I first got to know the music of Michael V. Doane through my association with the RightOutTV Music & Video Awards, where he has been both a nominee and a winner. I thought his work and his voice was impressive. So I was excited when he sent me a Tweet, telling me he had a new single and music video out. Both would be the song "Looking for Love", now available everywhere.

The song is a wonderful fusion of Rock, Pop, Dance, and Soul, making for a steamy ride. Michael worked on the song with Russian dance producers Ivan Roudyk, Magnit and Slider. Apparently, it was a collaboration that needs to be revisited, for the song it hot! There is a wonderful urgency, a a driving beat keeping the song moving forward. This is the type of song Donna Summer rode to the top of the charts, and I think Doane and his collaborators can do the same. The music video adds to the spicy mix, giving us working girls, a handsome private detective, and a hot john in an expensive car. Date Night • Cafe Com Leite (You, Me and Him)

'Cafe Come Leite' is a Brazilian film that is also known by the English title 'You, Me, and Him'. Danilo and Marcos are starting to think about their future together then the unimaginable happens. This leaves Danilo trying to figure out how to make room for both Marcos and his little brother Lucas in his life. The film was written and directed by Daniel Ribeiro, and stars Daniel Tavares as Danilo, Diego Torraca as Marcos, and Eduardo Melo as Lucas. There is such warmth and charm in this film, I could just drink it up. They speak in Portuguese, but there are subtitles. This is 'Cafe Com Leite'.

Candy Apple Blue Banned From YouTube!

In a time when Miley Cyrus can be seen naked and swinging on a wrecking ball, and licking anything that can't move faster than her tongue, YouTube felt the need to delete the music video for "You Turn Me On", the latest written by Candy Apple Blue and featuring Daveo Falaveo. The music video featured Daveo and a cast of other characters, including Hoyt Emerick from Candy Apple Blue, expressing their lustful longings, wanting to meet up with someone who turns them on. It seems like good clean fun to me - much of it takes place in a shower! Thankfully, the video still can be seen on Vimeo, so here is "You Turn Me On", written by Candy Apple Blue and featuring the vocals of Daveo Falaveo.

Jeffery Straker • Time After Time Cover

Canadian songster Jeffery Straker has taken to YouTube to entertain his fans, which would include me. Now, I love his original music, but to keep us happy, Jeffery has released a few cover songs, and I't like to take the opportunity to share them with you. First up, his most recent release was is cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time". The song was written by Lauper and Rob Hyman, a member of one of my favorite bands, The Hooters. It was a mega-hit off her debut album, 'She's So Unusual'released 30 years ago this month. Cyndi's recording went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, and was certified Gold in sales, as well as being a part of the Six-times Platinum album. Here is Jeffery Straking singing "Time After Time".

"Titanium" was written by Sia Furler, David Guetta, Giorgio Tuinfort, and Nick Van De Wall, and was recorded by Guetta with Sia as featured vocalist. The song was a bold Dance song that crept into the Pop charts, making it to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was certified double-Platinum, and seemed to be everywhere, in the clubs and bars, and on the radio. When I saw Jeffery had covered the song, I was excited, not knowing what to expect, but looking forward to hearing, nonetheless. And I can tell you, he gave me all I could want, and more. His voice is wonderful, and he gives me the emotions I needed, and some great honesty. This is Jeffery Straker singing "Titanium".

Singer/songwriter Eli Lieb has released a new video on his YouTube channel, and once again, he gets it so damn right I can't contain myself. This time out, Eli takes on Miley Cyrus with a cover of "Wrecking Ball", and it is amazing. His voice is perfect, and the arrangement spectacular to make this one of my favorite songs of the month! I bought it and it went right into my October 2013 playlist. I am not surprised, for it seems Eli never takes a bad step. And, I must admit he looks dazzling as ever in the video. Todrick Hall & Pentatonix • The Wizard of Ahhhs

Todrick Hall is at it again, creating a mash-up/spectacle that will entrance us all. This time, Todrick is joined by the vocal group Pentatonix to create a new spin on 'The Wizard of Oz' story. They pull it together with a mash-up of songs from today, from Country to Pop. While Pentatonix might start with "Over The Rainbow", it isn't long before they are recreating the storm whisking Dorothy and Toto off with Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away". And, well, they take off from there. Really, you are better off hitting play full screen and sit back and enjoy than have me blathering on much longer. So please enjoy 'The Wizard of Ahhhs'.

Date Night • Angora Ranch

I happened across 'Angora Ranch' quite by accident, and I will be forever grateful to the that twist of fate. Within the first few scenes of the film, I was charmed by the characters, and just felt so damned good. It was my introduction to writer/director Paul Bright, and I will admit that I am now somewhat addicted to his work. This is the tale of two men, Justin and Jack, and how their very different lives accidentally intersect, and change both for the better. There is such a sweetness and honesty to 'Angora Ranch', I still enjoy watching it again and again. And now that it is available on YouTube where you can watch it anytime you'd like for free, I thought I'd share it with you all so you can fall in love with it as well.

Tom Goss • Can't Hold Us (Macklemore Cover)

The last time I saw Tom Goss, he was full of great surprises. Not only did I get a sneak peak at his ye-to-be-released music video for "Make Believe", as well as his new fascination with an artist I hadn't know, Macklemore. Actually, Macklemore in collaboration with Ryan Lewis. He was crazy for the video of the song "One Love" featuring Mary Lambert. The song takes Hip-Hop in a very gay-friendly direction, as straight men talk openly and freely about the need to equality for all. He played me several videos, and it was great so see Tom's excitement about the music. So when I heard Tom was working on a new music video, I really wasn't that surprised to hear he was covering a song by Hip-Hop stars Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The first time I watched Tom cover the song "Can't Hold Us", I did giggle to myself, and wondered if I needed to start referring to him as Tommie G. But it wasn't long before I was just smiling cause it was so darned good.

One of the things that did surprise me is that Tom was doing a cover, something he doesn't usually do. That tells me how much he loves this music. I am wondering if I will be hearing him play this tomorrow night, when I see him playing with Eric Himan in Washington, DC. To learn more about Tom, visit his official website. Brandon Ford - A Reading

Horror/Suspense writer Brandon Ford just posted his first ever video blog, and I thought I would share it with you. I am a fan of Brandon's, and follow him on Twitter, where he often makes me laugh. I know that might be an odd recommendation for a horror writer, but it works for me. So he is promoting his latest novel, Pay Phone, and decided to do a short reading for his fans.



Indeed, you might have noticed he was quoting Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, not so much his own work. But it made me smile and laugh, which is always a good thing. New Video - There Is A Light (Smiths Cover)

I never worry when I hear Daniel J. Cartier is covering a song. For one thing, he has great taste when he is picking the music, and another, he just has a tendency to blow me away. But to take on Morrissey and the Smiths, well, that is a tall order. There is no cause for worry, because Daniel covers the iconic There Is A Light That Never Goes Out just beautifully. In fact, he is brilliant, and left my skin tingling.

Toby Madigan had pledged to do a song a week for a year and release it on YouTube. Well, he is keeping the commitment. I think I will try to cover them all, but group them together like this, 2 or 3 weeks at a time. I really like Toby, and think he is a talented guy. He's got a nice voice, and a good style of writing. And he is a very handsome guy. What's not to love?

There is a man I can only describe as a video artist in St. Louis. His name is Phillip Scott Johnson. I find them fascinating and just beautiful to watch. He morphs one image into the next, set to classical music. On YouTube, his screen name is eggman913, and he has posted 18 videos.
