Post-Sandy Dance Party

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I seem to have a bit of fatigue, as if I was hit by the high winds and rain myself. So I am trying to catch up with myself, and get back to the blog after a couple of days off. I was at a loss as to what to post, feeling little inspiration. I looked around at dance music, still uninspired. I even turned on the cable music station, thinking if all else fails, I would just pick the first four songs and post them. As I was doing that, I decided this was not the answer. I would not find inspiration in random songs. So I decided to pick out four songs by out artists I love to listen to, and suddenly it all fell together. It certainly didn't hurt I began with a great track from B.Slade™ off his album Deep Purple. Enjoy as the so very gifted B.Slade as he sings "Phony Pony."

For more about B.Slade, visit his official website. I have been a fan of SIRPAUL and his amazing music for some time, and when he started working with DJ Alex Lauterstein, I was intrigued. The pairing was called Simulover, and their love of Electronica brought them together to make some sexy, sultry sounds. Listen to one of the songs off the 2011 debut, "Unbroken."

And speaking of duos, I have loved the music of Ivri Lider sing the first time I heard it in a movie soundtrack, and was thrilled when I heard he was making some Electronica/Dance music with a new musical partner, Yonathan Goldshtein. The calleed the group The Young Professionals, often abbreviating to TYP. In 2011, they released the album '9:00 To 17:00 To Whenever,' and I bought it the moment it became available. So enjoy the song "With Me" off that debut.

And, finally, I will bring in a very handsome singer/songwriter who might be perhaps best known for his acting in the popular 'Eating Out' series, as well as others. I actually first came to know his as a singer/songwriter, enjoying his music. I love 'The Sound of This Beat,' and Salvatore's take on the George Michael song "I Want Your Sex."

Great Club Music From 2011

When you hit the clubs in 2011, it would be surprising to NOT hear some if not all of the acts pictures above. Especially if you are hitting a LGBT club! They put out some fantastic music, an not just this year.

At the beginning of the year, Cuban-born Yovanni released his single Hello. The song, with the strong elements of Dance and Rock, showed the countless influences of the boy who grew up in Miami. After studying music, he ventured out to make his own statement. This he did. Bold, futuristic, and spicy hot are just a few of the ways you could describe the video. Watch Hello.

Earlier this year, a new release came out by Simulover. It is a duo made up of SIRPAUL and Alex Lauterstein, two talented men working in New York City. I am a huge fan of SIRPAUL's work, and had seen him live where he was assisted by the strikingly handsome DJ, Alex. So I was excited to hear the music they made together, and once it hit the internet, I was not disappointed at all. The Simulover album was great stuff, a combination of dance, electronica and industrial music that showed no limits. Check out their first video for the song Tourniquet.

For the fifth consecutive year, Kris Searle has won the prestigious 21st annual Los Angeles Music Award for Best Dance Electronica Artist of the year. The British-born Kris splits his time between his home in the UK and his new adopted home in Los Angeles. Searle recently released Falling For Your Light, a great Electronic Pop song.

It is sometimes tough to write about someone like Cazwell, who has been making great music for several years, and who is just so damned fun to watch and listen to. He recruited a bunch of hot dancers and they made some videos for songs like Ice Cream Truck and Get My Money Back off the 2010 release, Watch My Mouth. Whether it is more fun to watch the video, dance to the song, or just listen to his music on the iPod, you can decide. Cause I just can't, I love to do it all.

Simulover • Tourniquet

Simulover, the project of Alex Lauterstein and SIRPAUL™, has found a new outlet for all their creative juices, as it were. They debuted the first videofrom the self-titled album. Tourniquet, the second cut, is their ode to some fetish behavior, set to the driving beat of electro-dance. But is it about fetishes, or is it more about how we look at them, both in ourselves and in others? .



The video was directed by Andreas Anastasis, who was at the helm of the SIRPAUL videos. Anastasis has often toyed with the idea of reality, and what lurks just beneath the surface of people. He composes the images using the two stunning men, contrasting and blending them at will, with a startling ease. Whether they are using plastic, latex, hemp or some other artifice as a second skin, the video studies human sexuality.

New Release from Simulover

Alex Lauterstein & SIRPAUL

Over the weekend, I received the most intriguing email, and as I continue to recover from a illness that leaves me in coughing fits, it still couldn't keep my interest from being aroused, and some nice memories to return. And are there any memories that are sweeter than some summer memories of hot music and gorgeous men? When I got the email about a new release from Simulover, a project, a collaboration from Electronica masterminds SIRPAUL and DJ Alex Lauterstein, I instantly remembered being at a show last summer at the Triad Theatre in Manhattan, and the first time seeing DJ Lauterstein and literally catching my breathe, so impressed by his beauty. The stark nature of the dark stage and DJ Alex with his V-neck t-shirt only heightened to contrast. Soon he was joined on the stage by Electro-Pop sensation SIRPAUL, who put in a performance that will remain in my heart for years to come.

The email mentioned Simulover, and as I have been following SIRPAUL's messages for some time, I was aware the project was in the works. Well, it is beyond that point, as we can now get a taste online that will not only whet your appetite for the release in March, as you can hear with this amazing appetizer.



And because the duo know how much interest has been piqued, you can get an exclusive download of the teaser here. The eponymous album is due out on March 15th, but I did manage to secure an advance copy, and am loving the sexy, sultry sounds. Simulover sees to be offering their own form of Electronica, owing more to cool jazz than to fervent disco. Songs like Someone Else featuring Devlinelle or Lightyears, have a certain cool vibe, which builds to the point of feeling like you have just held a lover's hand fro the first time. Songs like Into Deeper remind me of the collaboration between Robert Fripp and Andy Summners, a driving drumbeat advancing the synth groove live. So Alive brings in another vocalist, Cherylyn, sweetening the pot for this sultry tune. There are other times, like during the single Unbroken, when the excitement hits a new level, like when your lover's hand slips away, touching the small of your back, his fingertips following up the spine. Yes, the tingle is certainly there, along with the need to focus on remembering to breathe from time to time. Here you can check out the clip for Unbroken.



Lauterstein is a native of Uraguay, although he has spent the great part of the last 15 years in New York City, playing his talents in the top clubs as DJ.
