Sacha Sacket • Low Blow

Sacha Sacket Low Blow photo SachaSacketLowBlow_zps9a96f147.jpg

I will start by making mention that the cover of the single "Low Blow" can be seen above, and that alone is worth the price of buying the new single. But I am also a big fan of Sacha Sacket's music, and will race to check out any of his music, and will be keen to purchase it without a preview. Sacha's skills as a songwriter are the perfect complement to his amazing voice, which has great depth, and so filled with emotion. "Low Blow" is a great example, with the music layered, giving such amazing textures. The song combines some traditional rock sounds, adding in a bit of electronic synth to freshen the mix. The overall sound is a bit more stark than normal, taking his music and adding a stronger edge.

The second new single available is "Aim", and it is just as surprising as it is beautiful. The song is very electronic, a departure from Sacha's usual Indie Rock sound. But the sound goes so well with his soaring voice, which truly takes the song to new heights in the chorus. "Aim" has a wonderful lightness, a marked contrast to the darkness of "Low Blow". Press play and just let it wash over you.

You can purchase either "Low Blow" or "Aim" (or both!) on Sacha's Bandcamp page. To learn more about Sacha Sacket, visit his official website. You can also 'like' him on Facebook, and 'follow' him on Twitter. Sacha also has a page on Tumblr. He is also taking part in the 'It Gets Better' tour, participating in the musical which to explore the effects of bullying today. In fact, he recently released a song he had written for the show, "A Song For Jamey", a stunning song about which I posted here. For more information about the 'It Gets Better' tour, visit the official website.

Sacha Sacket • A Song For Jamey

Sacha Sacket - Song For Jamey photo SS_Jamey_001_zpsa116d9aa.jpg
Sacha Sacket - Song For Jamey photo SS_Jamey_003_zps44d029c3.jpg

Like many gay men, singer/songwriter Sacha Sacket remembers being bullied when he was a young boy in high school. He remembers the alienation, the pain, and the shame it caused him, and how he felt there was no one he could speak to about it. He made it though, but not without battling with depression. But he grew stronger, and is on out and proud gay man for his whole career in music. And he was touched by the story of a teen who was working to fight bullies. And it was twice as hard to hear the 15-year-old Jamey took his own life once the bullying became just too much. So Sacha wrote "Song For Jamey", which is featured in the production of 'It Gets Better', a musical experience that exposes the effect bullying has on youngsters. He also performs it as part of the show. This song is just so amazing, so touching, so, well, real, I had to share it.

I have to tell you, after several listens, it still gave me goosebumps. You can purchase the single from iTunes, Amazon, and Bandcamp. To learn more about Sacha Sacket, visit his official website. For more information about the 'It Gets Better' tour, visit the official website.

Sacha Sacket • One Day Arrive • Free Music

Picture 20
Sacha Sacket - One Day Arrive Picture 19

As Sacha Sacket gets closer to releasing new music, he thought of us fans who were starving to get a taste. At least that is what I have decided , since I discovered yesterday he had a post on Facebook with a link to a video. Okay, I will admit it, I also have a bit of a crush on Sacha, who is certainly a handsome man. But I really love his music. Heritage is an amazing album, and Shadowed just rocked me. I was thrilled to see it was a video of a live performance of a new song, One Day Arrive, shot in the studio! Watch and enjoy...

You, too, can download both the song and the video for free. To download, visit the Youtube page, and find the links. You can also check him out on his official website. But I will warn you, since the first time I listened, I've been hooked. Sacha is fairly addictive. Now that new music is coming, I am hoping I get a chance to see him perform live.

Tributes • Chris • Sacha • Anthony • B.Slade™

B.Slade Sacha Sacket Anthony Callea Chris Cornell
Left to right: B.Slade™, Sacha Sacket, Anthony Callea, and Chris Cornell.

As the week progressed, we began to see a few tributes to the music of Whitney Houston. Now, since it has been long enough to take a look at a few brave souls who have not only decided to lift their voices to honor Whitney Houston, but they have managed to do it exceedingly well. Now, my criteria for this was for it to be an artist I have covered on the blog before, and doing the song justice. I would say that the four that are below not only do the song justice, they are doing it right. I will start with an artist I have started to really just love. I first learned about B.Slade™ from dear Wonder Man, and when I looked up his music, I was over the moon. So when I saw and heard his cover of The Greatest Love Of All, I was just moved. This cover was recorded a year ago, but reposted to honor the passing of singing great Houston.

You can also learn more about B.Slade at his official website here.

When I found this cover by Sacha Sacket, I was doubly excited. Not only was it a wonderful artist covering good music, he he also mentioned he was back in the studio, meaning a new album would be coming soon. I love Sacha Sacket, and not just because he is so damned hot. When I am listening to his musicthat is all I hear, and all I want to hear. What as he sings How Will I Know live.

You can check Sacha out at his official website here.

I am not sure what I can say about Chris Cornell that won't get me arrested. The man is outrageously talented, and droolingly sexy. The music, whether it be his stuff with Soundgarden, Audiosalve, or his solo stuff is all magnificent and memorable. His voice has so much grit, it adds a bit of extra weight to each song. And when it comes time to show the range, there is always that fear it won't be there. Yet it is, beautifully. Listen as he gives a bravura performance of I Will Always Love You, the Dolly Parton song brought to iconic levels by Whitney.

You can find out more about Cornell at his website.

Well, like the first clip, Anthony Callea's song wasn't recorded this week, but instead was sung a couple of years ago, but can be given a new look now that Houston has passed on. Callea sings When You Believe, the song by Stephen Schwartz from the animated film Prince of Egypt. The song was originally sung by Houston and Mariah Carey. As he always does, Anthony delivers a spectacular performance, well worth hearing. This was recorded even before he opened for Houston on the Australian leg of her 2010 World Tour.

For more about Anthony, you can check out his official website here.

So those are the tributes I thought you might enjoy hearing. I truly hope you did! I know I enjoyed them, and thought they would be a great way to celebrate he lady and her music. You can also find a tribute by the wonderful Matt Alber I posted earlier in the week here.

Get Out To Vote - Online!

Christopher Dallman, Josh Zuckerman, Sacha Sacket, David Raleigh, Ari Gold, Dangerous Muse, and Jónsi.

Voting takes place all week long for LOGO TV's Click List videos, and some of the favorite artists for this blog can be found on the list. I am sure they would love to have your support. Jónsi, Dangerous Muse, Josh Zuckerman, Sacha Sacket, Christopher Dallman, David Raleigh, and Ari Gold are among the names you can vote for this week. Just go HERE, and scroll down the list to find your favorite, and click on them, and go to the bottom and click on VOTE. It is that easy. You don't really need to fill out the information. You can vote as often as you'd like, so you can vote for a few of your favorites. But to make your voting a bit easier, I will feature some of them right here on the blog.

Christopher Dallman has a beautiful and touching video for his introspective song, Ghosts. When the video first came out, this blog's resident str8 hunk, Chad Cavanaugh, couldn't get enough of it, and I gotta agree, cause months later, I still can't hear it enough. So here is Ghosts, from the amazing EP, Never Was.

Sexy, sultry, and in your face, Dangerous Muse's I Want It All has a youthful vigor that is exhilarating and intoxicating. These boys are rumored to be putting together a new album, and I hope they hurray!

Man, I love the music Sacha Sacket makes. I just can't help it, I do. And I don't want to help it, I want to feed the addiction, and listen to every last bit I can, including when I watch the video for Running Away. Of course, it never hurts when the artist is so damn easy on the eyes, you know?

If being cute isn't enough to earn a vote, how about being talented. Josh Zuckerman has managed to growl at me on more than one album, cause I find myself unable to say know to the rocker. At least when it comes to his music. Check out his latest video on the LOGO countdown, Fall In Love Again.

And while I suspect his fans will be clicking away for him, I couldn't go without sharing the video Icelandic cutie Jónsi has for the song Animal Arithmetic off his latest album, Go.

David Raleigh, Sir Ari Gold, Billy Porter, and Alan Cumming remake the classic song That's What Friends Are For, and once again, the money is not going to the artist, but instead to a very worthy cause, to support of the Ali Forney Center, a NYC shelter for homeless GLBT youth. Gold also has a solo effort, Make My Body Rock, which I have recently featured.

Again, you can just go HERE, scroll down the list to find your favorite, click on them, and go to the bottom and click on VOTE. It is that easy. You don't really need to fill out the information. You can vote as often as you'd like, so you can vote for a few of your favorites. And I do love when Out and Proud musicians are featured on LOGO, which too often is over-run with the latest videos from one diva or another. So vote for your favorite, vote for each one, just do you civic duty, and get out to VOTE!

New Years Eve Party

Clockwise: Sacha Sacket, Ivri Lider, Jason Walker, Derek Nicoletto, Brian Kent, SIRPAUL, Archy & Mehitabel and Christopher Dallman.

Time to get the New Year party on, with some of the fun music that will help you get up and shake the 2010 'blahs' off you and be ready for 2011! So I just gathered together some of the videos from the last year or so, with some recent remixes, all by some incredible sexy out performers who where either established favorites or new discoveries. No matter which, I hope you enjoy your time with Club S2MD, and get your a$ on the dance floor, even if it is about 5 feet from your computer.

First up, I have to say I love it some of my favorites overlap a bit - appearing together live, showing up in the liner notes, it just makes me happy. So it was one of those moments when I heard that a great song from this past summer, Sacha Sacket's Cocky, was getting a remix from another of my faves, SIRPAUL. If I didn't love Cocky enough when first released by the handsome Sacha, add in SIRPAUL and there is another great version. And SIRPAUL told me he first heard the song on my blog! The result can be heard below, and you can download the SIRPAUL vs Robotika Remix for FREE by clicking on it!

Cocky (SIRPAUL vs. Robotika Remix)

While the song nor the performance are from the last year, I do have to say I am incredibly excited about the release of Ivri Lider's first English language album soon. So, to celebrate that, I am bringing out a clip of Ivri singing Bo (Henree version) live in New York. I would love to interview Ivri at some point, but first I must assure myself I can end each question without the words 'Will you marry me' in there.

In the fall of 2009, Christopher Dallman released a song in support of Marriage Equality, and I just loved it. It was a lovely song, and I bought it right away. However, a bit later, a new version showed up, and it turned out to be a great dance song, too! So check out Anthem (Radboy Radio Edit).

I only recently found the music of Jason Walker, and can't get enough of it. His most recent album release was Leave It All Behind, and the title cut was a rollicking song suitable for any party/dance mix. His voice, it just makes me find happiness.

I have been a fan of Derek Nicoletto for a couple of years now, and loved the song Crash Me Up from the second Telling On Trixie album. Well, only recently, I became familiar with some of the remixes, and I can't seem to let go of them, including this one, Crash Me Up (Arudius Remix).

Since discovering the music of Archy & Mehitabel, I have become fully addicted to it all. Every damn track. Lee Waters and Alexander Horwitz, the men behind the music, make music that is impossible to categorize, other than to label it as great. This particular track, Callisto, is a great addition to this group of songs. Enjoy.

Just saying the name SIRPAUL makes me happy, and listening to his music is even better. Put the sexy singer/songwriter/producer in a video and you have a surefire winner for me, like in Killer. SIRPAUL takes electronica and spins it outta control, taking me on a ride I love to take over and over.

I only recently found the music of Brian Kent, and discovered it is filled will joy and life. Check out I'll Find A Way, and I think you will agree with me.

Happy New Year!

Glee Meets Britney Tonight!

glee,season 2

To get everyone ready, I thought I would post a couple of Britney covers I really enjoy. It will help everyone prepare for watching the show tonight. I will be starting off with one of my favorites, Christopher Dallman singing Britney's 2009 release, Radar. This is a cut off Dallman's Sad Britney EP, a must have for your collection.

While not included on any of his albums, singer/songwriter Sacha Sacket did manage to cover one of Ms. Spears oft covered songs, the 1998 song that started it all, ...Baby One More Time. This is Sacha live and in concert several years ago, and I was thrilled to find it on YouTube.

With another cut from his Sad Britney EP, where he covered four of Ms. Spears songs, Christopher Dallman returns to sing Gimme More live at a show on the West coast.

And although I already have this song covered by another artist, I thought I would just be missing the boat if I didn't add in this fan video from a live concert by Tori Amos. Here is the amazing singer/songwriter doing her own cover of ...Baby One More Time.

Remember, GLEE is on your local Fox station tonight at 8PM/7PM Central.

Happy Birthday, Sacha Sacket!

Sacha Sacket
sacha sacket

Today is the birthday for the amazing and hypnotic Sacha Sacket. I've only discovered this talented man in the last year, but I am completely enthralled by his music. He can be almost beguiling, as his songs are so varied and diverse, from haunting ballads to driving rock, but I simply can't get enough of it all. As you can tell from the pictures above, he is also a gorgeous man, a very sexy out performer. One of his early songs that garnered attention was Judy (For Shame) from the Lovers And Leaders album.

I purchased the Hermitage EP, and was just blown away by it. Sacha's voice is so rich and so textured, it amazed me. The emotional impact of it shakes yo to the core. I love the dense feeling of the music, enveloping me while I listen. Here is Used.

Another song from Hermitage, Running Away, is in some ways more simple in texture, yet so rich as well. There is an amazing quality to it that makes me think of an amazing circus, this song building to it's crescendo.

I have not had the pleasure of seeing Sacha performing live, but I have a feeling if I did, I might just go into a happiness overload. Here is a clip of Sacha singing two songs live, Desire and Cockatoo, two hard driving rock songs I love. In fact, Cockatoo is one of my favorite Sacha songs.

You can check Sacha out at his official website here. For Sacha's birthday, you can celebrate by purchasing an album from his online store here. You can get Hermitage on iTunes here for under $5.

Sacha Sacket - Viscera Project 3

Photobucket Photobucket
Left: Sacha Sacket; right: SIRPAUL.

Last I visited Sacha Sacket's ongoing Viscera Project, I told you about the song Cocky, which I purchased straight away. Well, there have been two more songs since then, but first I want to get to something that makes me a giddy boy. Simple things in life make me happy, one of those being when two of my talented favorites join together to make some magic. That happened again this week when SIRPAUL remixed Cocky for Sacha, and Sacket is making it available for a free download! You can find the download on SoundCloud here. You can find the download button just above the song, under the title.

sacha sacket,cocky

And since I last mentioned the Viscera Project, two more songs have been added to the collection. The Viscera Project is a plan by Sacha to write and produce a new song a week, offering them to the public for a minimum of $1, although you can pay more if you so desire. So far, I have purchased every one, and like them very much. Last week, The Outsider was offered here. It is a classic rock song, with some fantastic guitar work. And, of course, Sacha sound fantastic on it.

<a href="http://sachasacket.bandcamp.com/track/the-outsider">The Outsider by Sacha Sacket</a>

This week, Spanish Carnival Ride was available, and I really like it. It has more of a moody ballad feel, the melody strong and gorgeous. There is such a lush and warm mood to the song, I was happy to add it to the iTunes collection. You can purchase it here.

<a href="http://sachasacket.bandcamp.com/track/spanish-carnival-ride">Spanish Carnival Ride by Sacha Sacket</a>

Both new songs are here for you to listen, and possible purchase. And, don't forget, there is the free download offered at the top. You can also check out Sacha Sacket's official website here. And you can check out SIRPAUL on the web here. I am a big fan of both artists, and if you would like, you can sign up to receive a newsletter from both, and get the latest news in your inbox.

Sacha Sacket - Viscera Project - Cocky

sacha sacket,cocky

This week's entry for Sacha Sacket's Viscera Project is actually a 2-for-1 deal! The official offering is Cocky, a great song! It has a kind of Fleetwood Mac feel to me, and I listen to it a lot! Listen to it here.

<a href="http://sachasacket.bandcamp.com/album/cocky-digital-album">Cocky by Sacha Sacket</a>

Well, now that you've heard it, you know you should buy it. So click on the song above, or just click here. If you buy the album [which is a minimum $1], you also get the song No One's Fool, a beautiful ballad, an ethereal song that floats into your mind. Sacha Sacket - Viscera Project

sacha sacket,chalk

A couple of weeks ago, Sacha Sacket announced he was going to offer a new song a week for the next year, calling it the Viscera Project. This week, Sacha out did himself, offering not only a new song, Chalk, but also a video for it. And both can be purchased for a $1 [more should you feel generous in your support of an independent gay singer/songwriter], so it is a great time to step up and check out the work of Sacha Sacket. You can sample the song before you buy it, and can even sample it here:

<a href="http://sachasacket.bandcamp.com/album/chalk-song-and-multimedia-package">Chalk by Sacha Sacket</a>

Give a listen, and if you would like to purchase, either click above, or click here. This is the third installment of the project, the first two being Breed and Give It To The Man. Both can be purchased as well, also $1 each, and both are song only packages. To check out Give It To The Man, click here. For Breed, click here. I am a big fan of Sacha and his music, and would recommend purchasing any or all of them. I know I bought them all so far!

Sacha Sacket - Judy (for Shame)

Sacha Sacket
Sacha Sacket

I am a relative newcomer to the appreciation of the rather abundant talents of Sacha Sacket. His music is intense, layered, and textured, and quite well constructed. I think i was introduced to it by my darling Bounmy, my Twitter friend from the West Coast, and I am better for it. The out and proud singer can really rock it out, as shown by the album he did with the all-girl band, The Ladykillers. That album is amazing, and I love the track Cockatoo! This is the video for Judy (for Shame), which is a song I think we can all identify with in some form or another.

For more about Sacha, click here for his official website.

Sacha Sacket - Running Away Video

sacha sacket,running away

Over the holiday weekend, out singer/songwriter Sacha Sacket released the new new video, Running Away. The song is from the latest album, Hermitage.

sacha sacket,running away
sacha sacket,running away

The song is the beautiful song, starting out as a ballad with an aching plea, building in tempo and intensity, a strong percussion section building with the temp, all the while Sacket's vocals accompanied by an ethereal chorus. The song is amazing, and the video allow another level of interest to draw you into the emotional layers of it.

To learn more about Sacha Sacket, you can check out his website here, or his MySpace page, where you can listen to some music. check him out on iTunes here. and you can purchase the EP Hermitage for just $4.95. It is a collection of five great songs, so do it. You won't regret it for a moment.

New Video - Used - Sacha Sacket

Sacha Sacket
Sacha Sacket

From his latest release, Hermitage, Sacha released the video for Used, one of my favorite songs from that album. I find Sacha Sacket's music to have a real raw, muscular and sexy edge to it, and I like that.

Did I mention he is also a really good looking man? Well, I should have. To learn more about Sacha Sacket, you can check out his website here, or his MySpace page, where you can listen to some music. I would highly recommend purchasing any of his music and listening to if often.

Str8 Boys Need Love Too - Old Friends

Left to right: Brian and James.

Don't ask me why, but I have decided the soundtrack to this post would be the music of Sacha Sacket, if for no other reason than I like it and think James might as well, so don't ask questions and just hit play and read.

Quantcast

Along with going to see Million Dollar Quartet, I was hoping to meet up with some old friends. I met Brian in the 80s when we were both doing freelance work for industrial trade shows, and we got along well from the start. We did many a job, along with another friend, Mal. Soon after he moved to the city, James joined out little group, having stumbled upon us and not running in shear terror. Hey, in those hectic times on jobs, that was all it took. Both were married when I met them, although I didn't hold it against them. Back in those days, I tended to be surrounded by breeders, and I was OK with that.

Anyway, I was trying to set up a chance to see these boys for the first time in a very long time. I am thinking it was 1994, as a matter of fact. So I got on the NJ Transit train to Penn Station going a bit too far into my head, and whipped out the iPod Touch to play some music to get back into my heart, and outta the other place. So with Theo Tams' Wait For You playing, I thought back and was able to think about some great times we had working on some jobs that were not exceedingly pleasant, save for the company we kept. Christopher Dallman's Never Was finished out the train ride, keeping me happy.

At 1:50PM, the train pulled into Penn Station, and I made my way to the surface. I still wasn't sure what was going to happen, so I called James and it turns out he was within a block of the station, and soon I was crossing the street to see him. I got a hug and a kiss, and we were off to meet Brian at a deli a couple of blocks away. Amazingly enough, within a few words, I was talking to James like 15 years hadn't passed us by, such a warm connection established. Sure, we had crap to catch up about, like how he has gone on to establish a career as a photographer and will soon have his work published. And how the silver has crept into his hair, but he is good with it, cause the ladies seem to like it. He can still make me laugh.

We made it to the deli, and saw Brian sitting there, looking not much different than the last time I had seen him. Aside from trying to figure out how long my hair was last time I had seen them, I spent much of the time laughing and enjoying myself. We walked to the High Line on 23rd, and walked down to 14th, I think. Then we headed over to the Hudson and walked along it. The city seems so different then when I lived there. We ended up at the Hippie Barge, at least that is what Brian called it, and had a beer and a lot more talk. I got a clearer vision of what Brian is up to, representing artists, like James. Alas, soon Brian had to leave, and James and I moved on to a rather nice bar, more beer and a bunch more conversation and laughs. And soon it was time for James to be heading out, and me to find my way up to Broadway, to catch a show.

I had a great time, and can't wait to see them again. Catching up is a helluva lot of fun. Maybe Mal and Helen will join us next time. But until then, you can learn a bit more about James by visiting his blog here.
