Aiden James • Snapshot (Music Video)

I was very excited to hear Aiden James was working on another music video, and even more so when it was up on YouTube. That means I needed to head out and watch "Snapshot", found on his 2012 album, 'Trouble With This'. I must say, at first I was surprised to not see Aiden, but instead a video featuring the very handsome Marco Sousa, who I believe was also featured in the music video for Aiden's "Hurry Hurry". He brings an inherent sweetness to the video, which already has the wonderful song the capture your heart. I hope you enjoy the music video for "Snapshot".

Aiden James • Winter in Los Angeles

I was excited to learn songster Aiden James would be recording a holiday song. I was not surprised to learn it would be an original, and that added to the excitement. And now that I heard it, I can tell you the excitement was well deserved. "Winter in Los Angeles" is a view of the season through the eyes of someone living in the Northeast who is spending time during the season in Los Angeles. It is a modern day "White Christmas", with a protagonist yearning for a traditional Christmas, with snow, cold weather, and the glimmer of Christmas Spirit everywhere you look. With his vocals, James is able to bring the melancholia, yet manages to avoid any sense of being jaded. There is a sweetness that really comes through. I found this song to be irresistible, like much of Aiden's music. It feels so real, like a slice of life. It touched my heart is a very real way. Aiden James • On My Sleeve (Acoustic)

Aiden James has recorded and released a video of the songster giving an acoustic performance of his song, "On My Sleeve". The song, found on his album 'Trouble With This', is a beautiful song, a sweet look at a time when you are discovering new love. You know, when you get those first feelings and find it impossible to focus on anything but the one that takes away your breath. There is such charm and honesty in the song, I find it just as irresistible now as when I first heard Aiden singing it live in Philadelphia a few years ago.

I love this acoustic version, but I also enjoy the Electronic version Aiden recorded. There is just something so sweet about it, I still listen to it. The amazing thing about Aiden's voice is that it sounds perfect with just an acoustic guitar, and really special with a synthesizer. Songster Aiden James has released a new music video, and boy it is a good one! Aiden is singing his cover of the Whitney Houston dance hit, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". Of course, Levi does give it a sound and feel like the song was written for the songster himself. The song starts off with a lovely and soothing sound, a perfect cradle for Aiden's voice. The song is sort of Acoustic Electronic, the music supplying more of an aural landscape for Aiden's voice. This allows the honey-voiced singer to take us on that musical journey. Songster Aiden James has released a music video for the latest single off 'Trouble With This'. "Hurry Hurry" combines James' Folk roots with his Pop sensibilities to deliver this charming performance. Aiden 'narrates' this video, imploring a handsome young man to hurry through the busy streets and subways of New York City. "Hurry Hurry" is definitely part of the soundtrack to Aiden's day, playing on his iPod as he sings along. Check out the ElectroPop sound on the video.

Happy Birthday, Aiden James!

I wanted to take the opportunity to wish handsome Aiden James a very happy birthday today, and what better way than to have him sing for me? Well, that works for me, anyway. I remember the first time I heard Aiden sing. I was at the World Cafe Live to see Eric Himan play, and this very cute man was opening up for him. It was Aiden, a Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter, and I immediately had to buy his first CD after the show. That led to the purchase of a second album, and now a third. Earlier this year, Aiden released Trouble With This, which featured the beautiful song, "Best Shot". Check out this amazing live performance of the show, captured for us all.

Looking Forward in 2012

Clockwise: We The Ghost, Robert German, Dudley Saunders, and Chad Cavanaugh.

I think there is plenty to look forward to in the New Year, but I will only touch on a couple of those things. Four, to be exact. Yesterday, we already had the great fortune of knowing that songster Aiden James released a new album. The great thing about a new year is just that, it is new. As the ball drops in Times Square, it can act like a great eraser, clearing out some mistakes so we can start fresh. We can promise ourselves we will try to get to see more live music, and to support those artists whose music we love.And, to the best of my knowledge, I think there are some people working on new music that get me more excited than it should.

That would include a band from Tulsa, Oklahoma, that is starting afrresh, writing some music and getting ready to put on some shows. We The Ghost, which features Beau Tyler, Dain Samuelson and blog favorite Jimmy Dean Adams, have started working together to make their own music. We can start with a clip of Beau singing an acoustic version of a song they wrote, Let The Love In.

When it comes to Robert German, I am completely coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. I love his music, and have practically worn out my version of Sirens of Brooklyn. So when I heard he is working on not one, but two new projects, I get a bit giddy. I understand they will be released separately, but it certainly means something is coming, something is in the pipeline. And I love that he sent out little teasers, videos with demos of songs, giving us a view into the creative process. In the following clip, we get a taste of Duct Tape & Super Glue, and I love it!

It has been far too long since I have had some new music from San Diego-based Chad Cavanaugh. I eat up Coffeehouse Rebellion, and adored We Got Love. The miltary veteran's pairing of classic folk with interesting rhythms keeps me wanting more. I know he was talking about going back in the studio, and certainly hope he has made it there. Until then, check out this live performance of his song Troubadour.

The album includes 12 songs, all fantastic! Aiden has a new sound, and I am quite enjoying it. This collection has a electronic, Poppy sound that is infectious. There is a sweet retro feel, like someone was just listening to the early Euro-Pop of Depeche Mode or Yazoo. There is a frothy light touch, but the unmistakable vocals still maintain a warmth and depth few can match. Give a listen to the first single, Best Shot.



James also lays a different take on Gonna Hurt More, a little moodier, less bound by guitar, and ready to fly. The same could be said of Snapshot, a song that maintains the sweetness of the narrative, but grows on the album. There is a bounce and joy to Touch Your Heart, a song that combines the innocence of 1964 with the light touch of reggae and the warmth of new love. There is so much to be excited about, all I can say is buy it, buy it now! You wanna know what my issue is? I can't find an ounce of trouble on The Trouble With This...

Aiden James has a new single out, just in time to treat yourself for this holiday season. As a precursor to a new album, Aiden released Best Shot to iTunes and Amazon. While the music on James' first two releases have a folky sound, the new single incorporates a more electronic, fresh pop sound. It is truly wonderful. There is a lightness, an effervescent quality to the single. James' voice still has that smooth-as-honey quality, just oozing warmth. Aiden James at Burlap & Bean

The very first time I videotaped at a show was in West Chester, Pennsylvania, when I went to see Aiden James play at the Burlap & Bean. As is always the case, Aiden was exceptional, although my video-taping left a bit to be desired. Like, a lot to improve upon. Thank God that just by his presence, Aiden makes my crappy work seem better. This is Gonna Hurt More.



I managed to tape a couple of songs, and another favorite of mine is Just For A Second. I won't lie, I just love it!

Catching Up With Aiden James

It has been a while since I posted about the handsome songster, Aiden James, so I thought I would give him a mention. He's been traveling a bit, with a show in LA over the weekend. He's also hard at work in the studio, working on the new album. I am looking forward to it, cause it is never bad hearing that honeyed-voice of his wrapping itself around a beautiful melody. As is the case in the following video, Aiden singing Snapshot, one of the more recent songs of which I am very fond.



Speaking of being in the studio, he has been going in and out of the studio because, like every independent musician I can think of, he has to pay for it himself. So, when a musician sets up a fundraising page at one of the safe sites, like on Feed The Muse, they usually come with incentives that make it more an investment than a donation. For just $25, you will receive a autographed and numbered copy of the album, once it is complete. And that completion date is moved closer when the musician gets some help to put out the costs. Since I truly enjoy listening to heart, and that speaks to my heart. I encourage people to stop by Aiden's Feed The Muse page, and make an investment in your aural future. I know I did. Need a little more encouragement, how about another new song, one he just laid down in the studio and performed live on the Larry Flick show on SiriusXM Radio, Best Shot.

New Video - Aiden James - Best Shot

I'm just gonna say he is giving me an early Christmas present, cause I am loving the new video from songster Aiden James. The video was filmed while Aiden was making an appearance on the fabulous Morning Jolt show on SiriusXM, hosted by Larry Flick. He performed Best Shot live on the show, captured on tape and delivered with Aiden's usual perfection. The song is to be a new album due out in the spring. I will admit I was lucky enough to have heard the song live at a couple of shows I caught earlier this year. I loved it then, and love it even more now.

Aiden James on WSTW Hometown Heroes

Here in Delaware, we are lucky enough to have a radio station, WSTW, 93.7 on the FM dial, which features a weekly Sunday night broadcast that spotlights local musicians on air. The host, Mark Rogers, does a great job interacting with the performers, and allowing them a comfortable place to showcase their music. He performed a then untitled song, since gaining a title - Crashing Down. As is always the case, Aiden is in amazing voice for the performance.



Aiden is in the studio working on a new album. In order to get this accomplished, he is looking for some assistance in getting it the funding. Like so many of the independent musicians, he has set up a page where you can give money, and in return, you will be getting something as well, depending on the amount you give. That site is here. I just saw this video posted on YouTube and had to share, since it includes three of my favorites, Eric Himan, Aiden James and Tom Goss. There are also other performers, and now I have to check out their music, cuase I really enjoyed this. I think it is best to let the description online explain it all. After a day of performing at Tucson Pride on 10/09/10, the musicians, Namoli Brennet, Eric Himan, Aiden James, Joe Stevens and Ingrid Elizabeth of Coyote Grace, Liz Stahler, Brianna Lane and Tom Goss get together to do a rendition of Patty Griffin's, "Tony", a song that speaks to the recent string of LGBT youth suicides.
