Eric Himan Back On The Road

On the heels of releasing a beautiful new album, singer/songwriter Eric Himan is going back on the road to showcase some of the great new material on 'Gracefully'. Honestly, I try to catch Eric whenever he plays near me, for it is always something special. The man has such great talent, it makes me happy. The last time through, I saw Eric play a show in Washington, DC, at The Dunes, a show he played with Tom Goss. It was wonderful, and the pictures and videos in this post were from that show. The first video is Eric singing "Running", a single he had released last year. It is a wonderful song, as you can hear.

A talented multi-instrumentalist, Eric plays his acoustic guitar, his electric guitar, and the piano at his live shows. And, of course, he sings while playing, with that amazing voice. In the following clip, he sings "Symmetry", a song featured on 'Gracefully', his 2013 release. The album, dedicated to his late grandmother, blends the Folk, Rock and Soul that are the basis for his music. Enjoy this lovely acoustic version of "Symmetry".

One of the many things Eric does so well is to pick a couple of songs to cover, allowing the audience to enjoy and sing along, as well as getting a little peak into the man himself, as he explains the influence the song and/or artist has had on his career. And he generally sings the hell out of the song, as he does on "Walking On Broken Glass", a song written and performed by the great Annie Lennox. Feel free to sing along!

As you can see and hear, a live show by Eric Himan is a wonderful journey captained by a strong artist. Eric has a great rapport with the audience, and shares little stories and experiences from his own life, like the issues, both pro and con, of being an out and proud artist, or what it is like recording at Henson Recording Studios, or what it is like to run into other artists on the road, like Justin Bieber. And when he smiles and laughs, you can't help but join in.

Jay Brannan • Wide Open Spaces (Dixie Chicks cover)

Jay Brannan photo jaybrannan-pressphoto1_zpsac7e1497.jpg

As Jay Brannan prepares to go back on the road, Jay has released a beautiful cover of "Wide Open Spaces", written by Susan Gibson, and originally performed by the Dixie Chicks. The song was the tittle cut off their 1998 album. Of course, the talented Brannan puts his own spin on the song, giving it a new life. And the beauty of his voice is inescapable.

I can't ever seem to get enough of Jay's music, and I have yet to hear an album I didn't love. If you liked this performance, you can find more great songs, both originals and covers, on Jay's album 'Live at Eddie's Attic'. You can purchase it on iTunes and Amazon. His most recent studio album is 'Rob Me Blind', also available on iTunes and Amazon. To l;earn more about Jay Brannan, visit his official website. You can also 'follow' him on Twitter, or 'like' him on Facebook. At the end of the month, Jay will be kicking off his tour starting in Washington, DC. Dark Monday • Jekyll & Hyde Tour

Jekyll & Hyde poster photo JekyllHyde2013Poster2_zps07ee9bf6.jpg

There is a new touring company winding across the country, with just seven more dates before the show makes a home on Broadway for a limited summer engagement. The show features former American Idol and Tony Nominated singer/actor Constantine Maroulis as the title character, and R&B singer Deborah Cox as his leading lady. Maroulis had his run on season 4 of American Idol, and has since made a name for himself on Broadway, with a noted replacement role in 'The Wedding Singer' before creating his role in the highly-touted music 'Rock of Ages', which earned Constantine a Tony nomination. Cox has used her gorgeous voice to top both the Billboard Hot R&B as well as the Hot Dance Billboard charts. She has also scored well on the Pop chart, geting to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The show is based on the original short story by the great Robert Louis Stevenson. It has made it to film on more than one occasion In fact, there have been well over 120 movies, and countless stage adaptations. The tour is currently in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with stops in Tulsa, OK, Denver, Colorado, Los Angeles, California, Des Moines, Iowa, Chicago, Illinois, and West Palm Beach, Florida, before starting a run at the Richard Rogers Theatre. They are scheduled to be on Broadway in a limited engagement from April 5, 2013 - August 24, 2013. Here is a collection of clips of the highlights for the tour.

The show provides the opportunity for a strong voice to give tour-de-force performances, with several songs written to stop the show. One such song is the most famous from the show, "This Is The Moment". Like the rest of score, it has music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Wildhorn, Leslie Bricusse, and Steve Cuden. This is a recording made last year featuring the vocals of Constantine.

Certainly the male lead is not the only one with the chance to shine. In the role of Lucy, Deborah Cox has some beautiful songs, including the lovely "In His Eyes". Lucy is the classic working-girl-with-a-heart-of-gold, as well as the featured performer at The Red Rat, a night club in London.

To learn more about 'Jekyll & Hyde', visit their official website. There you can get the dates the show is playing, and purchase tickets. For more about Constantine Maroulis, visit his official website. You can also check out Deborah Cox on Facebook.

The title cut off the new album is a dreamy exploration of love, allowing us to follow the machinations of a relationship, at least from Brannan's point of view. Garrin Benfield East Coast Tour 2011

After completing more dates on the Wests Coast, Garrin Benfield is traveling around the Northeast, with dates in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, in early November. I will admit I am a big fan, and only got the chance to see him live in the past year, but made it twice, and am about to make it a third time. I've put the show at The Grape Room on my calendar. Check for the date nearest you.

If Garrin has a show near you, I would advise against missing it. Go, hear, and love every minute of it. Check out this clip from the CD Release Party in New York City. The song is Colors In You from the latest album, The Wave Organ Song.

This is a clip from the show at the Grape Room last December, my first time to hear Garrin play live. I was damn near giddy before the show, I was so excited. The song is Are You With Me?, also from The Wave Organ Song.

You can find The Wave Organ Song on iTunes for $9.99 here, or on Amazon.com for $8.99 here. For more about Garrin Benfield, check out his official website here.

Jake Walden 2011 Tour

Jake Walden DC

In preparation for the release of a new album, Jake Walden is getting set to take to the road. The singer/songwriter kicks things off in Chicago, Illinois, next week, and move to the East Coast for a couple of weeks, ending with two shows on July 16th in Washington, DC. In fact, the pictures above were taken by me the last time I saw Jake play in DC, when he played with Tom Goss. That was a great night! With Jake on the verge of releasing a new album, Same Something Different, there should be great new music, and a real excitement with the tour. I am trying to decide between the DC & Ardmore dates, cause I don't want to miss it.

Tom Goss Is "Touring It Around"

Photobucket
Photobucket

On March 5, 2011, Tom Goss appeared at the PSALM Salon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was there, with my sister Kathy, my niece Mandy, and a friend, attended, and are so glad we did. We not only had the opportunity to get autographed copies of his latest album, Turn It Around, but also to have a great show from Tom. He never disappoints.

I'll be getting it together soon to post a recap of the show, and also a review of the new album. But, just to give you a little forewarning, I think Turn It Around is Tom's best ever! To catch Tom when he is in your town, check his schedule below. Or you can hit up his official website here.

As the talented singer/songwriter prepares for a tour of the UK, he released some new videos on YouTube I thought I would share with you. If you would like to check out the tour dates, click to my post here. Both songs are covers of Sinead O'Connor songs, and exceptionally good. The first is Troy, released in 1987.

The other is from the 1990 release I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got. No, it is not Nothing Compares 2U, it is Black Boys On Mopeds. Enjoy.

Since I just posted the latest video from Eric & the Adams, thought now might be a good time to run a tour schedule for the hot and dare I say sexy band. It is mainly stops in Oklahoma, but it also includes the dates for their cruise, which leaves out of Los Angeles at the end of January. For more about that, check out their official website here.

Jay Brannan On Tour Fall 2010

Jay Brannan

Jay Brannan recently started a new tour, and I thought I would mention the dates, cause if you have a chance to see him live, I would say you should. He is amazing live, his voice lovely and clear, and a charm all his own. I have seen him twice, and loved it both times.

Here is a clip of Jay singing the Cranberries classic Zombie live. Lord, when he sings this, I get chills. For more about Jay Brannan, check out his official website here.

Aiden James On Tour

aiden james

Handsome and talented, the Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter has a voice that touches my soul, whether he is singing about love, the heart, or going out dancing. I have seen Aiden myself far more than I might like to admit, but on the other hand, wouldn't miss a single show. He has several upcoming dates, and if he is playing near you, I would suggest you book tickets now.

Just in case you might be unfamiliar with him, here is a clip from a show earlier this year, when Aiden tackles Lady GaGa in a mash-up he makes all his own.

For more on Aiden James, check out his official website here.

Christopher Dallman Upcoming Dates

christopher dallman

The gifted and talented California-based singer/songwriter has a couple of shows coming up, and as someone who has been in the audience for his live performances, I would say get to whatever show is close as soon as you can! Whether he is singing his own very personal music, or doing a sensitive cover song, Christopher Dallman is certainly an artist you'll want to follow. e will be appearing with Philadelphia-based artist Aiden James, so check out the dates.

For those not familiar with Chris in concert, check out the clip below. e is singing Mistake, a song off his debut album, Race The Light. It was listening to this album that got me hooked on the him, and if you give a listen, you will see why.
