Tomorrow, Sunday August 5, 2012, Stephen Chapman is planning a special Five on the Fifth post, with the theme being "Summer". For those who might not remember, Five on the Fifth was launched to give people an opportunity all over the world a chance to share their photographs, and a little bit of their lives every month. I am planning to participate, and this is a picture I almost used, but instead will use it for this teaser...

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's 5 on the Fifth posts. This month, Stephen announced the theme is MESS. I decided to take on the challenge of the theme, in my own way. Luckily, over the Labor Day Weekend I went to the beach for a brief trip with my sister and her grandchildren. Kathy and I took Reed and Bryce on the rides in Playland Arcade in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. We went on some rides, played a little Skee Ball, before driving back home. Well walking into Playland is like walking into a lesson on a mess. All of my senses were inundated, as the bright colors of the rides were jammed into a small space. There was loud piped in carnival music coming from many of the rides, and people everywhere, chatting, yelling, screaming and laughing. There was food being made. Well, no healthy food, but fried dough, popcorn, sour gummy worms. And that blasted music...
So, this was my idea of a mess.
The Paratrooper ride had people living up.
The Free-Fall ride and the Helicopter were in the same tight frame.
People were flipping, spinning, swinging and climbing on all kinds of rides.
The Sea Dragon was a swinging pirate ship!
The Merry-Go-Round was quite ornate.

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's 5 on the Fifth posts. This month, Stephen announced the theme is MY TOWN. I decided to take on the challenge of the theme. First, however, I thought a bit of information would be appropriate now. Clayton is located centrally in the state of Delaware, on the East Coast of the US. The actual town is about 1 square mile in area, but there is plenty of surrounding farmland that is considered to be in the mailing zone of Clayton. In 2010, the official census put the population of the town just under 3,000 people. While I live on the outskirts of a rather small town, we do have a Clayton mailing address. And to set the mood a bit more, I thought I would post Simon & Garfunkel's My Little Town, and you can hit play and listen while you are looking at the pictures.

The public drinking fountain. I will be honest, I have never had a drink from it, and never will. But it is nice that they continue to take care of it.
Looking down the sidewalk of Main Street is like looking down the sidewalk of any small town in the country.
The old train depot, which has been long closed. The tracks are used by freight trains, and can be heard running at night. For a long time, the depot was an antique shop. I am not sure what is in it now.

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's Five on the 5th posts. I am a tad late, because I was working on the photos, which I just took last night. This month, to celebrate the 25th month of this little photographic challenge, the theme is SILVER.
So I decided to take on the challenge of the theme, and decide how I would depict silver on here. I decided to gather up what 'silver' I had, and think a bit. So I was soon playing with the reflective quality of my metal, which was not real silver at all. And the following is what I ended up with.
I like the way the silver and blue beads caught the light.

It is February 5th, time for Stephen Chapman's Five on the Fifth posts. I really do enjoy participating in this global blogging, cause I love taking pictures. This month Stephen made the suggestion of 'Reflections', and I am going to follow that suggestion, as least how it applies to me. It is interesting, cause I started out in one direction, and soon it came around to a whole different interpretation. I began by taking pictures that would give an interesting reflection, and ended up doing a series of self-portraits, either caught in a reflection or in the midst of reflection.

I know I am a little early this month, but it is the 5th at Stephen's house!
When you are living on a farm, you might look up to the cupola of the barn and see a bird or two there.
You might also look up to the top of the privacy fence around the manure pile, and see something growing.
If you look even higher, the hawks circling the area looking for food is not unusual.
Visiting my sister's house in New Jersey, you can look up through the trees and catch the sky.
Sometimes you can get lucky, and catch a bee flying next to a bird perched on the barn roof.

In keeping with the theme, I have decided to take on the last big journey I took, to Barcelona 10 years ago. I took it with the one my sister & I refer to as stalkerboy, and I just discovered this before the trip. With money invested in airline tickets and hotel reservations, I went through with the trip, although it was a tad uncomfortable. While I was working once, he stopped by the office and spoke to my boss and coworkers about how I was going to quit, since I was so unhappy with the job. It seems he applied for a job for ME at the place he was working, and just never bothered to tell me about any of it. After all, I loved that job. He was also telling other people I was moving in with him, despite the fact I told him I wasn't prepared to do that. Alas, I went to Barcelona with a chip on my shoulder and it was a journey of growth for me, and really enjoyed the city. It is beautiful.
Bonus: This shot was not taken by me, but was of my and 'stalkerboy'. Can't believe I still had hair that long just 10 years ago.

Living on a family farm makes this too irresistible - grab the camera and go outside. The place is brimming with Spring. On the farm, when the horses get out in the paddock, you know Spring is here. So, on the afternoon of April 5, 2010, I went out with my camera to see what was going on and try to capture it a little.
