I am not sure I could think of a better way to greet your Saturday than to have Chadwick Johnson singing, well, just about anything. But when he is taking on one of the great R&B songs, one of the most recorded in history, that just makes it damn-near perfect! In 1955, a song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret was written for a movie. That movie was a prison flick named 'Unchained.' And that is how it got it's title, "Unchained Melody." And while it was recorded and sung by many people, it was a single released in 1965 by the Righteous Brothers that soared to the top of the charts, and still lives on in the memory and hearts of many. So, just 47 years later, Chadwick recorded it for his release, 'Soul Rising,' and put this video up of a fantastic live performance. Enjoy.
