"Better Than Dancing" is the first cut on the fun album from electro-performer Matthew Duffy, 'Spunk Pumpers Unite!' It is a shining example of his work, combining the elements of piano-driven Pop with a sleek finish of Electro-Pop to make a bold sound spring to life. In fact, Duffy wrote, played, and produced the music on the album, save the writing the cover of Pete Shelly's iconic "Homosapien". The music all seems perfect for music videos, and this is no exception. Shot in crisp black and white, the video is fun and sexy, just a delicious something I couldn't wait to gobble up. And Matthew also manages to make overall shorts more flirty than I thought possible. Check out the music video for "Better Than Dancing".

Whether Matthew is dancing by himself or with a hot, tattooed man, I find it hard to take my eyes away from the video. And I also find the song to be a great listen, with or without the video. You can find "Better Than Dancing" on Duffy's most recent album, 'Spunk Pumpers Unite!'. You can purchase it from iTunes, CD Baby, and Amazon. Matthew Duffy • Clever Lover

Singer/songwriter Matthew Duffy has released a new video to promote the great music found on his latest album, Spunk Pumpers Unite. Earlier videos from the album included Man Out Of U, featuring a guest appearance of Ronnie Kroell. Duffy also included a fantastic cover of Pete Shelley's Homosapien on the album. The Clever Lover video has an interesting feel, at times hypnotic, while also telling a more linear tale of heartache, of being wounded. Some times we wear a mask to hide behind, and at other times we might need it to add an extra layer of protecting our exposed skin.

Clever Lover appears on the album Spunk Pumpers Unite! You can find it on iTunes and Amazon. You can also find out more about Matthew Duffy on his official website. You can also find him on Facebook.

New Music • Matthew Duffy

Matthew Duffy Album Cover, Spunk Pumpers Unite

This morning marks the date of the release of the latest album by gay electro-rocker Matthew Duffy. Spunk Pumpers Unite! is now available worldwide on any number of musical outlets. With the 9-song collection, Duffy attacks the music with a gusto, combining the electronic sound of the dance floor with a sharp vocals, leaving the songs with a razor edge. Check out, for instance, the fifth song offered up, Homosapien. The song was written by Pete Shelley, the title track for his 1981 debut solo album. I had gotten to know Pete as the frontman for the British Punk band Buzzcocks. Shelley, who was somewhat notorious in the early 1980s for his declaration of his bisexuality, at a time when even Elton John was married to a woman, although claiming to be bisexual. Gave new meaning to the Buzzcock songs when you go back to listen. The song is a great one, and Matthew does a great job updating and making it his.

And you know, I just loved Pete Shelley and I loved the Buzzcocks. Matthew's work does remind me a bit Shelley's songs as well as others from the Punk and New Romantics of the 1970s and '80s, with a frankness in the lyrics, and they way they both combined a real edge to the inherent "Pop" nature of the songs. I recently featured the first video for this collection, for the song Man Out of U. The video features the sexy model/actor Ronnie Kroell.

I like Matthew Duffy's music, and can't wait to spend some time with this release. I haven't been able to give it a few listens like I would like, but love the two songs above, so that means something's right about the album. To find out more about Matthew, check out his official website here. You can also find him on Facebook. To check out or purchase Spunk Pumpers Unite!, the album can be purchased from iTunes and Amazon.

Out and Proud singer/songwriter Matthew Duffy released a new video for his latest song, Man Out Of U. The video features Ronnie Kroell, the out contestant on the first season of Make Me A Supermodel on Bravo. He has continued to work as a model, as well as appear at Pride Festivals and other events. The video features the song written by Duffy which pokes fun at the roles within the society, not only the male/female roles, but also the sexual roles, and others that have formed. Give a eye and an ear to the video.

Matthew looks and sounds great, and Ronnie is every bit as cute as I remembered him. You can find out more about the music of Matthew Duffy by visiting his Facebook page here. You can find his music, including his recent cover of the Pete Shelley classic, Homosapien, on iTunes and on Amazon. And you can find out more about Ronnie on his official website here.
