Music to Kick Off Your Weekend

I am not sure if it was lack of imagination, or just a real interest in a couple of artists, but whatever it was, I decided to take a look at some more music from a couple of artists that were recently featured on the blog. I will start with the handsome Irishman I only recently discovered with his beautiful ballad, "Start Again". It was that song and music video that brought me to the other music from Ryan Dolan, the out and proud singer/songwriter. One of those songs was "Only Love Survives", which also happened to be Ireland's entry for Eurovision 2013. It has become a favorite for me, and I am so pleased to share it with you now. I swear, I broke into a sweat while watching that one. It made me think about his 2012 hit single, "Body Connection". SIRPAUL was joined on this song by the talented Loco Ninja, who added a great rap to the production. The song was also featured on SIRPAUL's album, 'The Horse'. In another recent post, I featured a new single from gay British Rapper/Hip-Hop artist QBoy, and I was thrilled to hear some new music from the talented man. It made me think of the great single from the über-talented Levi Kreis, "Love Revolution". S=The song appeared on Kries' 2013 release, 'Imagine Paradise', and later was released as a single that helped raise money for the Kentucky-based 'Positively Living' group. While Kreis delivered the song and his usual magnificent performance, he brought in QBoy to collaborate, and it was something special. This is Levi Kreis featuring QBoy with the song "Love Revolution (Louis The Child Remix)".

So I did a bit of research, and soon discovered his 2013 EP, 'Nirvana'. I loved it, and eagerly looked for more. It was then I found the 2013 single from Naughty Boy "La La La", which featured vocals from Smith. Sam added a wonderful soulful feel to the recording, and I could not hear it enough. This is Naughty Boy with "La La La", featuring Sam Smith.

Fred Oskar • Just A Haircut

I received an email telling me Fred Oskar had a new single, with a link to check it out. One of the interesting parts of email was being informed that not only did I know of Fred Oskar, but I already 'his' music in my collection. It seems the artist currently known as 'Fred Oskar' is also the artist formerly known as 'Simon Walton'. Walton had a great single, "The Lover", which featured a great collaboration with rapper Loco Ninja. That was a wonderful collaboration of two out and proud artists. I really enjoyed Walton's 2011 release, 'Proud Music', but haven't heard much from him for the last year. I guess I know why now. Simon Walton is no more, and Fred Oskar is releasing new music and a music video, as the pictures above and below can attest.

Fred Oskar released "Just A Haircut", an ElectroPop ditty featuring Fred Oskar discussing his dating life. It seems there is a cute boy he likes, but upon closer examination, he's just a boy with a great haircut and sweet t-shirt. Honestly, I met plenty of those boys back in the 1980s. As well as the single, Oskar has released a new music video. In it, Fred sings with himself, or at least a feminine version of himself. As they both strip back the layers of the dating game, we are soon left with the realization that the sexually charged arena of dating does take more than cute to win your heart. Olympic Dancing 101

In keeping with the spirit of the 2012 London Olympic Games, I thought I would go a bit international with tonight's dance music. In fact, I looked to international members of the LGBT community for some music to get you up and dancing. And in tribute to London, I will begin with a song from British icons Pet Shop Boys. The band began in a record store in London, when Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe met. That was over thirty years ago, and they are still making great music. And it seems like "Winner" is just perfect for anyone performing in the Olympic games.

At the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, Anthony was busy singing his new music, including the wonder "Oh Oh Oh Oh". I love this song, and it certainly keeps me moving.

This spring SIRPAUL released a new album, and the lead single featured a bright up-and-coming star in Loco Ninja. Together, they make some magic on "Body Connection".

I first came across the music of Pete Burns when he was the lead singer for the 1980s band, Dead Or Alive. Yes, he was the one told us to "spin right round, baby, right round, like a record player." Recently, he has appeared on British reality television, and struggled with some bad plastic surgery. More recently, he warned us all to "Never Marry An Icon". This is a 2012 NANSIM! REMIX, so enjoy.

At the beginning of the year, Ivri Lider teamed up with Johnny Goldstein to form The Young Professionals. They put out the great album with the tricky name, 9AM to 5PM - 5PM to Whenever. There were several great cuts on it, but they also released an EP that included a cover of the Lana Del Rey song, "Video Games".

Start out your weekend with a new video from rapper Loco Ninja. Watch and enjoy Animal Crackers, inspired by the song sung so cutely by Shirley Temple oh, so many years ago. I remember Shirley Temple so fondly, having spent many a Saturday watching her movies when I was just a wee lad. Shirley sang Animal Crackers In My Soup in the movie Curley Top in 1935, 77 years ago! Loco brings it up to date, set in a colorful urban school that was Fast Times At Ridgemont High set in the Bronx, with objects flying and outta-control students. Check out Loco's Animal Crackers.
