Being Human • 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Die'

Being Human is the SyFy Channel's version of the great series first produced on the BBC. Since the early episodes of the series, the SyFy version, set in Boston, Massachusetts, found a narrative of its own, allowing the ghost, the vampire, and the werewolf to step out of the shadowy constraints of the British original and find a life of their own. I love both series!

'Being Human' stars Sam Huntington, Meaghan Rath and Sam Witwer.

When we last saw the supernatural trio, things were not great. Aidan had just seen his 'son', Henry, storm off, infected with the plague that would soon kill him. Josh was in a car, gun in hand, while Nora was helping newbie Erin were transforming in the woods. Well, until Erin goes after Josh, until Nora steps in. And Sally has just shown Trent the way to his door, only she didn't realize it sent him to to Donna Gilchrist, who could be seen chewing on his shavings after she shredded him with the butcher's knife. Talk about a bad week. You can only hope it gets better, but will it?

The show opens with Nora and Josh in bed sleeping, until the thud, thud, thud of the bass from some overly-cranked-up music awakens them. Josh goes down to check it out, and it is Aidan having a party, with coeds, the idea of which he finds incredible. Josh tries to settle down the party so he and Nora can sleep, but as he does, he is joined by Sally, who encourages Aidan, since he lost his '"vamp son". And while Aidan assures him it is not the case, we all know better. The next morning, Josh cleans up the residue from the party, and then tries to get romantic advice from the vampire. Aidan suggests some wooing, and perhaps asking permission to marry Nora, from her father. It seems Nora is going to see her family that night, for her mother's birthday. Josh suggest Aidan might start working again, since the group needs some cash, what with expenses like the witch who raises the dead and such. Aidan doesn't seem keen on the idea. Josh isn't fond of Aidan's attitude about his unsafe behavior, exposing himself to possible infection. Cut to Sally walking out of the house, when person after person calls her name as if they know her, and then they fall dead. Then Sally wakes with a start, hyperventilating. After the break, Sally is on the sofa playing cards with Erin, affectionately called Teen Wolf by Aidan. Erin suggests Sally move away from Boston, or risk killing people all the time. She needs a new identity, a new home. She contemplates that.

At the hospital, Josh sees Nora and tells her he wants to go with her. Nora isn't happy with the idea, not sure she trusts her family. Sally and Aidan have a night out, and Sally pumps Aidan for information about getting a new life. Aidan talks to her, but is distracted by the pulse of the tattooed biker distracts him. He dances with Sally, but the blood lust grows within him. Cut to Nora and Josh talking about going into the house, and meeting her family. They also bring with them Erin, claiming she is Josh's cousin. Meeting the family is quite uncomfortable, with her father staring at them. Back in the bar, Sally tells Aidan she and Josh are worried, with his indiscriminate blood-sucking. Back at Nora's house, her mother speaks about her ex, lovingly. Josh is annoyed, until Nora explains she never told them about his abuse. Back in the bar, Aidan is settling the bill while Sally is in the ladies room, and leaves before she is back. She goes outside, and finds the biker on the ground, his neck bleeding. She calls 9-1-1, sure she knows what happened. Time for a commercial.

After the break, Nora is telling Josh about Bryn, the surviving twin. They argued, and Nora killed her. Nora fears that will drive Josh away, but it doesn't. After all, it is not like he handsome killed - remember Ray? Aidan is on the stoop, remembering all the people he has loved, who are gone. Sally sees him, and starts to lecture him about his reckless behavior. Does he want to get sick, to die? Back at Nora's place, Josh is on the porch with her father, and asks for Nora's hand in marriage. He can't really answer, save to insult both Nora and her mother. Back at the brownstone, Aidan is in bed shirtless, distracting me. Suddenly Sally is atop him, straddling him. I admit my breath is getting heavy. Then she reveals a stake, not sexy at all. She wants his attention.

She wants Aidan to take better care, and was then dragged into his pity-party. He talks about being alone, now that his loved ones are all dead. Sally is angry, and reminds him he is not the only one in pain. Aidan fears Sally leaving to get a new life, and Josh and Nora leaving to start their own family. They chat, he tells her the proper way to stake a vampire. And he is soon in the shower, a yummy site indeed. Then he is in the hospital, applying for his old job again. Back in the house, Nora's brother RJ stops by with beers, and spills the beans to Nora about Josh proposing. She goes out to get some coffee to sober him up, and before she is down the block, her brother is offering beer to the 15-year-old Erin, and making out in her bed. Josh is not impressed. He and RJ start to fight, until Nora breaks it up. Erin lies about what happened, but Nora still sends her brother away. Sally sneaks into the funeral home, and is busted by Max. She tells him she needs a new identity, and he seems to understand. He offers her a job, and will pay her cash. There is a flirtatious air between them. Back at the house, Josh is at Erin's door, apologizing. She doesn't answer, and he went in, only to find her gone. He tells Nora, who makes several veiled references that no changes need to be made, they have so much on their plate. Josh disagrees, thinks they can handle more. Even if there is so much going on for them. Back at the hospital, Aidan is being shown around, and sees a patient in quarantine. It is Kenny, a 'bubble-boy'. Aidan is told the boy has never been sick. That sounds like music to Aidan's ears... That was great - want to peek at what's to come next week?
