New Album Coming From Tom Goss

Tom Goss with Bear photo Tom_Goss_with_Bear_zpse86d9b6f.jpg

Singer/songwriter and blog favorite Tom Goss is getting ready to go back in the studio to record his next album, and is offering his fans an opportunity to pre-order the album, and get all kinds of perks! "I'm excited to announce that in one month I'll be holed away in the studio," he announced, "making the best record I've ever made." Part of this announcement comes with the news of eight different pre-order packages, offering the new album and more. It has been over a year and a half since his last release, the beautiful 'Lost Songs and Underdogs'. That album included the beautiful song Tom wrote for his wedding to Michael. Listen as he sings "I Do".

"One of the things I love about how music is currently delivered, is the ability to get something seriously cool and personal from the artist" Goss explained. Tom, always an artist who stays in touch with his fans, asked what they might like in addition to new music. "Last month, I asked you what you wanted, and now I'm giving it to you!" So the options range from autographed albums and pictures, guitar picks, to t-shirts, additional music, a personalized 30 second song perfect for your voice mail message to time in the studio, or three days on the road with Tom! I am not sure how long these options will be available, so make sure you check them out soon. But before we go there, I will remind you about Tom's most recent single, the delicious "Bears", with a video like few I've ever seen before, and only Tom can deliver.

I will admit I've been a fan of Tom's music since I first saw his open for Eric Him at the World Cafe in Philly in 2007, collecting and loving every album since. His music is wonderfully positive, so life affirming I can't help but love it. There is a joy to it, and it is a feeling Tom shares through his music every time you hear him. You can pre-order the new album at Tom's official online store. To learn more about Tom, visit his official website. Check out his touring schedule, for you won't want to miss him if he is playing in your area. You can also follow him on Twitter, or like him on Facebook.

Tom Goss Bares Himself For Music

Tom Goss - Make Believe

Singer/songwriter Tom Goss has released his latest video, featuring the song "Make Believe" off his album 'Turn It Around'. The video stars all of Tom, well just about, anyway. The time out, Tom wears a wry smile and those beautiful baby blues as he appears in the video, his well-toned body the landscape for this video tale. This great and innovative video is a blast to watch, and I have watched is several times, each time catching something new. The only thing I can compare it to was the great video by Peter Gabriel for "Sledgehammer". Enjoy "Make Believe".

To learn more about Tom Goss, visit his official website. You can purchase the single "Make Believe" on iTunes and Amazon. Also, Tom has released a four-song collection of the single and three coll remixes. You can purchase the "Make Believe" Remixes from Amazon and CD Baby.  Make sure you share the video with your friends and family. Tell them to watch the video on Youtube here.

Clockwise: Tom gets his groove on with Sophia & others; Tom & Mandy practice the steps; and Eboné & Angel between takes.

Last weekend, I ventured to Washington, DC, with my sister Kathy and my niece Mandy to be a part of the making of the next music video from one of our very favorite people, Tom Goss. Of course, I had to take pictures and take videos, for it is a compulsion for me at this point. After having been at the CD Release Party, it was great to be a part of the first video as well.

Who knew 'Spaz, spaz, spaz' would become an endearing phrase? We got in early, which was fine. Despite a break for rain, the shoot finished early! There was great planning from Production team of Director Michael Patrick Key, Director of Photography Dylan Comstock and Editor Aram Vartian, and the day ran so smoothly. I had a delightful time at the table with Flo and Sophia. Really, it was a fantastic group of people, and a diverse one as well. I met some amazing people, had far too many laughs to even remember, and a day I will never forget.

Tom Goss - For The Love of Mike...

I have seen Tom Goss many a time, and each has it's own special memory. I have so many pictures of this handsome man, but it was only at the last show that I screwed up the courage to videotape him, and I am so glad I did. The first clip here is Tom singing King of Something Right, talking about two of his favorite topics - Love and his husband, Michael. It is from his Rise EP.

For the second clip, I picked something form his latest album, the brilliant Turn It Around. Once again, he is discussing his love for Michael, and doing so in the most charming and endearing fashion. Here is I Do.

Tom Goss' Turning It Around On iTunes

Photobucket
Photobucket Photobucket

Tom Goss' Turn It Around can now be purchased on iTunes, and if you love good music, you will rush over there and buy it now. Need some help? Click HERE and go directly to it. Buy it. Trust me on this one, don't bother to listen to a snippet, just purchase it, you'll be saving time. Cause you really will want it.

That would provide you with a taste of what you experience when you go to a Tom Goss show, something I do as often as I can. When I first heard Tom live, it was his songwriting that grabbed me, and wouldn't let go. And now, some four years later, I am still under his spell, and can feel the goosebumps break out when I hear the opening chords for Rise, or when I let the amazingness of King Of Something Right wash over me. Or how, years later, Legacy of You still makes me tear up. But now there is another album, more fodder for my soul. I knew it would be good, but what I wasn't expecting was it to rock my soul so much, with a particular retro yet fresh-sounding rock music feel that just had me excited with the opening bars of It's All Over, the first track. When I first heard it, I felt the need to dance to it, even though I was alone in my home. And you know what? I did.

Shady Dell, while it might beckon to a simpler time, never goes retro, but instead keeps a current rhythm and a tight phrasing plan. Spaces Unseen is a small and sweet song that blooms into a glorious and epic love song, delivered to perfection by Tom. The title track tips a hat to the 60s sound of West Coast American Rock, like the Beach Boys or Jan & Dean. Is It Too Early? is a remarkable song that warms my heart with every listen. And I love Stewart Lewis' harmonizing in the chorus. Make Believe puts the foot back on the gas, rocking out with a ripping guitar solo that I love. The amount of charm and truth spewing from Two Steps From You is hard to imagine, unless you know the quality of the work from Goss. All I Ever Wanted starts off with strong acoustic riff, and soon the electric guitar is added, and the bold band sand brings it to a higher level. By the time it hits the chorus, it soars.

You Came Along begins with a strong yet sparse piano track backing up Tom's voices. Slowly instrumentation is added, yet the vocal still remains in the forefront. The next track, Seems Like Yesterday, reminds me more of Bob Dylan that of surfer bands, with an impatience and drive the West Coast bands seldom knew. The final track, You Know That I Love You, was written for his husband, Mike, and it is just a beautiful song that melts even my chilly heart.

So, if you don't go HERE and purchase this album, I am not sure I can be your friend. Unless, of course, you find out Tom is coming to your area soon, and you are waiting to buy it from him in person, where he can sign it.

That is the remaining schedule for Tour It Around, giving everyone a good chance to share in the experience, and the love that is Tom Goss. For more about Tom, you can check him out at his official website, here. There you can listen to his music for free before you buy it. And speaking of free, you can download some free music here. What more could you ask for? Besides a hug and an autograph?

On March 5, 2011, Tom Goss appeared at the PSALM Salon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was there, with my sister Kathy, my niece Mandy, and a friend, attended, and are so glad we did. We not only had the opportunity to get autographed copies of his latest album, Turn It Around, but also to have a great show from Tom. He never disappoints.

I'll be getting it together soon to post a recap of the show, and also a review of the new album. But, just to give you a little forewarning, I think Turn It Around is Tom's best ever! To catch Tom when he is in your town, check his schedule below. Or you can hit up his official website here.

You Can Buy Tom Goss' Package

The Washington DC-based singer/songwriter has completed work on his new album, Turn It Around, and has made it available for pre-purchase in a variety of different packages, from a digital download, to a vacation with Tom and his husband, Mike, and many a variation in between. I, of course, had to order right away, going for the autographed album as well as an 8 x 10 autographed photograph, which also comes with a digital download as soon as it is available! To check out what is available, and to pre-order your copy, go here.

Tom is a blog favorite, and with nothing yet available for the new album, I thought I would run a video of why my fascination with Tom began - a live performance of his incredible song, Rise. When I heard him sing it when he was opening for Eric Himan, it was pretty much all over for me. Lyrically, the song is just amazing.

You can check it out, and pre-order a package which includes a digital download, the package I ordered, or a all that and a DVD with his videos all iPod ready. There is also a package that includes a cool new t-shirt. You can even go for a house concert, where Tom will play at your house, and entertain your friends. You can also order a limited edition CD with all the songs inspired by his love for Mike, whom he recently married. Or would you be interested in a role in an upcoming video? Or maybe, just maybe, you would like to go on a vacation with Tom and Mike? Well, if you click here, it is all available...

Tom is also starting to put dates together for his Spring tour, and make tickets available. So far, their are dates for Washington, DC, Baltimore and Boston at the end of March, but more will be coming. You can check out the information, and order tickets, here. I'm trying to organize my peeps to see when we are going to see him live, cause I know several members of my family can't wait to see him again.

To check out more of his music and his videos, visit Tom's official website here.
