Being Human Season 3 - Wolf-Shaped Bullet Aftermath

The final 20 minutes of the finale that kept me on the edge of my seat!

After we leave Mitchell at the beach with the empty car that once contained him and Herrick, now just a few ashes, we return to a police office, where a glum looking trio of suited men come in to shut down the investigations into the massacre, as it has been solved, no thanks to the incompetence of the staff, who are now unemployed. He is amazingly other-worldly, and more than just a bit snarky. I kinda like him.





Annie and George are on the sofa, reading the paper about the "killer" of the Box Tunnel Massacre, whom they know for a fact is not guilty. They discuss how vampires can clean any mess, and think perhaps Herrick is behind it. Nina is in the kitchen, fixing some tea, looking very pregnant. Suddenly, Mitchell is outside, and hey invite him in. What does he want? He pulls out a stake, and wants George to kill him. He's tired of living, his life. Nina laughs, saying "Vampires and their inscrutable bullshit..." She thinks they are all blood-enfused drama queens, but Mitchell explains George has to do it to disown him, to break the bond they have. It is not Herrick behind the cover up, but those who are will expect something in return, and Mitchell doesn't want it to involve them. The trio retreat to the kitchen without their vampire friend to discuss it all.




They ponder the motivation of killing him, and the pain it will put on George. But if they let him go, will the next death be on their hands? George goes out to talk to Mitchell, who just is tired of killing, and wants it to stop. He is the shell of who he once was, with too many memories, too much sadness. That isn't working, so he changes tactics, and mentions how sorry he felt for the poor, unfortunate wolf-boy. The smart, savvy and handsome vampire would never really opt to hang with a doggie-boy that was, well, pathetic, needy.... Willing to put up with anything to hang with the cool guy. No, that wasn't true, he is just sad and knows there will be more death, more pain. He sees the victims, it hurts. George knows what he must do, and prepares for it. Annie kisses him goodbye as she tells her she was the love of his life. e asks Nina to take care of George and the baby. As George prepares to strike, a loudspeaker interrupts.




The man in charge, a vampire "Old One," comes in. He shut down the investigation before. His name is Wyndham, and he is the new power in town. He is taking Mitchell away, to be his attack dog. He says no, and he will crucify George and Nina, in public. He will keep Annie around, cause she is more powerful than even she knows. And the werewolves, they are making history, with the baby. He mentions the other elders wanted to cull them, but he wants to see what happens. He wants them to spread his word, that the "Age of the Vampire" has begun.




George picks up the stake, and seems to brandish it in Wyndham's direction. The vampire scoffs, until George stakes Mitchell, telling him it is because he loves him. Mitchell smiles, and agrees. Soon, he beautiful vampire turns to dust and smoke.




Nina, Annie and George gather together and tell Wyndham the Old Ones have a fight on their hands now... I am a puddle of tears. Brilliant, just brilliant.

Being Human Season 3 - The Wolf-Shaped Bullet

Well, we are here at the season finale of Being Human (UK), and I have to say, the final 20 minutes of the last episode threw me into a tizzy. Annie staked the vampire trying to silence the detective, finally figuring out it was Mitchell behind the Box Tunnel Massacre. MacNair laying in wait for everyone to leave so he has a shot at Herrick and Mitchell was something I hadn't seen coming, but I loved having Robson Green back. And the bonus point of him being killed by Herrick was the multiple shots of him laying in the attic naked. Also unfortunate was the fate of the detective, who went upstairs to see if Uncle Billy was alright, only to be Herrick's first drink, and the beginning of his night of terror. He tastes most of the Welsh police force, and then stabs Nina on his way out the door. It seems she and George beat Tom back from the woods, only to discover the crime tape up. Nina confessed to George having placed a call, and George flipped out, knowing everyone was in danger as long as their secret supernatural lives might be discovered. Annie and Mitchell have an emotional talk that leads to nowhere good. Annie thinks Mitchell must pay, no matter the cost to him and the rest of the world. Even though the discovery that vampires, and possible werewolves and ghosts could shake the very foundation of belief of the human race, Annie thinks Mitchell must pay. Mitchell is arrested, and they to take a mug shot...




The finale opens with Mitchell in his cell in the police station, with Annie there at his side. He tries to explain why she needs to help him to get out, but she isn't buying into it. She is willing to shake the very roots of humanity so that there is some conclusion to a police investigation, there is justice. George arrives at the police station, only to be turned away. That is when we see Herrick in a car, dressed as a policeman. We are back with Mitchell and Annie, and Annie continues to whinge on about justice and the need for Mitchell to pay. Mitchell tries to explain about Lia's prophecy, and his fight to escape it to be with her. Suddenly the door opens, and Herrick is there break Mitchell out. Mitchell wants to know the secret of coming back, and Herrick agrees to tell him, but knocks him out instead.




Back at the house, Tom returns home from the forrest, only to find the devastation that remains, including the naked body of his "father", MacNair. As he runs downstairs, he finds Nina's bleeding body passed out beside the phone. Back at the police station, they realize Mitchell is gone, and as Annie goes out to see what they are saying, she hears of the carnage at the house, and thinks one of the victims could be Nina. She is being rushed to the hospital. Annie goes there, only to find Nina fighting for her life, and a young policeman losing his battle. But his dead body sits up and sings a song for Annie, mentioning her by name, requesting she return to Purgatory. A door appears for the policeman to move through, and Annie walks with him.



Next, we have MacNair reading the note he wrote to his son, Tom, before the activities of the night. He explains Herrick was the one who caused him to be a werewolf, the one he has been searching for all these years. He explains why he killed vampires, what drove him, all while Tom is burying his body. It was a fantastic scene acted brilliantly by Robson Green. MacNair wanted it all to end with him, but as we see Tom leaving a totem on the grave, and sharpening a stake, we know it will not be.




Mitchell wakes up in the cage used for the werewolves. Herrick is there, and they are talking about the very essence of their lives. Herrick finally admits he hates the vein of decency found in Mitchell, something he would like to eradicate so he can have a brethren in the vampiric fight. He points out that everyone has weaknesses. Loyalty is one of them. We cut to Annie, and she is found by Lia, who shows Annie a TV shot of Mitchell in the cage. Annie asks Lia what they can do, only to be told nothing. Mitchell tells Herrick there is no loyalty with him, only survivor instincts. He wants to survive. He'll side with Herrick, but not for long. Herrick tells him he will be the villain, and Mitchell points out he always was. To prove to Herrick his most recent change of loyalties, George is brought out by some vampire thugs and put in the cage with Mitchell. Annie is going a little crazy, realizing that George will be the prophecy, the wolf-shaped bullet. And Lia is a bit too excited.




Back in the cage, Herrick decides he wants a fight, one that Mitchell and George are not delivering. He tells George that Mitchell is the killer, and George is not surprised. Back to Annie, she is perplexed, trying to figure out why Lia called her to join her. Lia admits to making it up, just wanting to screw with Mitchell's head. It was all made up, there was no prophecy. Back to the boys, Herrick is looking for a way to get to George, when he reveals he thinks he killed Nina, stabbing her in the kidneys. George freaks out, understandably. Herrick explains it was Mitchell who lit the fuse of Herrick's return, all to get the secret of post-wolfen life. He makes it clear to George that it is Mitchell's fault Nina and the baby are dead. He tries to stoke the fire of hate, of fear, to make George fight. He succeeds, and George attacks Mitchell. While they are battling in the cage, Tom arrives, bent on revenge of his father's murder. he picks off the thugs with ease, and goes for Herrick. He almost kills him, but is stopped by Mitchell, threatening to kill George unless Tom let's Herrick go. As Herrick goes for the car, Mitchell frees the two werewolves, but not before he is disowned by George, in a heartbreaking scene.




Back to the ladies, we are finally getting a complete picture of Lia, who plotted all of this just to get revenge on Mitchell for her death in the Box Tunnel Massacre. They are in Lia's bedroom, discussing her pain, her loss, and the pain of her family. Unfortunately, Nina was just collateral damage in Lia's big plan. Annie doesn't know what she expects, as she doesn't think she will get either remorse or heartbreak from the vampire. She points that out to Lia, and talks about hanging with Nina in the afterlife, watching George. Lia isn't sure about that, but Annie is sure, she wants Lia to watch as George copes with the loss of the love of his life, and the baby. Then she tells the truth, that Lia is way out of her depth, engulfed in hate with no real control over the plan. She needs to let Annie go back to Nina, to be at her side. They part, Lia admitting "Revenge kinda sucks. Who knew?"





Annie is with Nina, who is failing. Annie whispers something, and there is a big gasp for air. George and Tom break into the treatment room, but are stopped. George sees Annie, who smiles and nods, and George knows it will be OK. Mitchell parks the car on the beach in Wales, with Herrick at his side. They take a moment to speak to one another. Herrick starts to tell Mitchell the secret of his return from the werewolf attack, and he stops him, no longer interested. He has lost all that matter to him, in Annie and George. Herrick looks toward the future, while Mitchell still laments the past. Mitchell wants to give Herrick something, and they look out at the sunrise together. Holy crap, what did Mitchell just do?




And there is still 20 minutes left to the show! Oh Em Gee!!!! I am loosing my mind. This is a fantastic finale, and the acting is just exceptional. Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey, Lenora Crichlow and Sinéad Keenan are amazing in it, with great support form others, including my favorite, Robson Green.

Being Human Season 3 - Though The Heavens Fall

Tonight at 9PM/8PM Central on BBC America, we have the opportunity to watch the 7th episode of the 8-show season. This season has really kept me on the edge of my seat, and not just because I am perched to jump the bones of either Mitchell or George. In the last 20 minutes of the last episode, we learned George's father wasn't a ghost, just an down-trodden man yearning for release. He gets the release when he punched the bossy gym teacher, winning his wife back. This was a shock because not only did we think him dead for most of the show, but he was also caught dancing to The Promise by Girls Aloud. George contemplates staying with his new-reformed nuclear family, but soon realized he was far better off with his new family, Nina, Annie and Mitchell. And Mitchell tells the detective about Daisy, but she also wants to speak to Herrick about Mitchell. When she does, Herrick is sniffing around like a dog after a bone.




This episode opens with a scene showing Herrick in a ringmaster outfit, in the cages set up for the werewolf games. He is chatting away, and soon we see to whom he speaks. It is "human" McNair, who was put in with a werewolf and somehow stunned everyone, and is the one lives. After listening to Herrick pontificate on and on, we notice something, a bit of blood. Seems McNair, played by the delicious Robson Green, was scratched by the werewolf. And so another werewolf enters the world. Zoom forward, and Annie is hard at work trying to sort out the investigation of the box Tunnel Massacre, as Mitchell tries to tell her who disastrous it would be if a vampire was arrested, and people had to come face -to-face with the reality of the supernatural. But the ghost ain't buying into his argument. When the police detective reports to her boss, he just wants her to give up, as her investigation has led to stories and innuendo, no real facts.




As Nina shaves a recovering Herrick, he speaks to her about the realization he is a vampire, and his confusion about it, and the fear. She tells him to stay appalled by it, to try and defeat the hunger. And he admits to giving the scrapbook to the detective. As that thought settles in, the doorbell rings, and it is McNair being helped in by Tom, as his leg as a cut. Nina goes into action. Is it wrong I want to be Nina, on my knees tending to McNair's wound? They talk, and McNair notices Nina has a bit of a baby-bump, and surprised she and George have not been bothered by the vampires, who have been chasing he and Tom around. He suggests it might be because of Mitchell. Meanwhile, in the other room, George is inviting Tom to stay with them, for he shouldn't be chasing and killing vampires, he should be dating, getting sexually transmitted diseases and hangovers. As they return to the living room, all are surprised when McNair announces they are staying a couple of days, and even suggests Tom and George go out for a pint.



The detective takes to the bathroom for time to think, and Annie goes on a deep monologue [the detective can't hear], clearing Mitchell, but still wanting to pursue the killer. The detective, on the other hand, wants to continue to chase Mitchell. Annie believes this is at least a partial victory, and we hear the beat of drums in the background. Cut to Mitchell walking down the street smoking a cigarette, and we hear the Detroit Social Club doing a version of Johnny Cash's God's Gonna Cut You Down.



Annie zips home in a ghostly way, and as Mitchell comes in, she wants to know his plans. He is going upstairs. He has plans to talk to Herrick. Although Herrick seems afraid, Mitchell will not go easy, trying to figure out how he survived the werewolf attack. Mitchell knows he is still Herrick, even if others don't believe him. He has the answer that just might save Mitchell from the Wolf-Shaped Bullet. Downstairs, Annie announces she knows who murdered the people on the train to a surprised Nina and George, telling them it was Daisy. George is shocked, cause he did have that fling with her... Nina thought it was Mitchell who had, and was shocked as well. The detective shows up to question him again, and I swear, the more trouble he gets into, the hotter he looks. They talk about the scrapbook, and he tells her it was't his, it belonged to Graham, which is true. She think she is lying, and tells him that. She wants to see Uncle Billy, who we know is Herrick. Mitchell goes up to tell him, and he tells Mitchell he cannot be trusted. Mitchell speaks about how they were both at war when they met so long ago, and how they are still at war today. It might be a secret war, but it rages on nonetheless. He'd like Herrick to let nature take its course. Herrick implores him to not let the detective near him.




Nina tries to backpedal a bit, admitting to the detective that she was the one who called with the tip about Mitchell, but now she thinks she was mistaken. The detective is getting angry now, feeling lied to. She hands Mitchell a glass as she goes up to speak to Herrick. He puts it on an end table, and follows her up the stairs and to Herrick. She presses him with some questions, while Herrick hears the beat of her heart and feels the thirst. As he comes on her, Mitchell breaks in, grabs the detective and sends her on her way, effectively saving her life. On her way out, she snags the glass, and will now have Mitchell's fingerprints to compare. There is a quick cut to the scene of Nina, Tom and George getting ready to their transformations, as it is the full moon and all. We hear the familiar sound of Duran Duran's Hungry Like The Wolf as they get ready, and Nina notices that Tom's bird is decidedly larger than George's.



While the song plays, we also see Herrick snagging a knife, while Nina made his bed, and Tom trying to make McNair more comfy on the sofa. We also see Nina noticing the appearance of her bump, too. But she, George and Tom must be off to transform, leaving McNair the comfort of their basement while he recovers. Tom is sad to leave McNair behind. Once he is alone, McNair pops right up, and goes to the pad of paper, righting a note. Is he planning to leave, and saying goodbye to Tom?




Annie is with the detective, who is touring the evidence lab, where they have the train car from the massacre. She finds out that Mitchell's fingerprints were found, and he should be 85 or something, and they were linked to a murder in 1960. Oh, this is not getting pretty, is it? Annie is there, and not happy this was being uncovered. Oh, and they also matched prints in the train, so he is "the guy." Annie is devastated. As the detective and her boss discuss it further, he punches her, knocking her to the ground. He is a vampire, and he's trying to protect Mitchell.




Mitchell, meanwhile, walks into the empty house, and turns on a light. He grabs a drink from the fridge, and sits down. We see McNair come out, about to transform, and putting on his necklace of vampire fangs. Might he be the wolf-shaped-bullet? He sneaks up the stairs, not disturbing Mitchell. Cut back to the lab, and the detective on the ground, hearing her boss ramble on about the problems it will be to cover this up. She kicks him and runs away. She tries to call for back-up, only to discover no signal on her phone... She tries to arrest him, but he tells her you can't, and that vampires need to remain hidden, for the good of all society. He grabs her, and tells her she is going to get an evolutionary promotion, and gets all vampire-like, and moves to bite her.

OMG, people, no really! The last twenty minutes of this show is just out of control, epic amazing. What does McNair have in store for the house tonight? Will the detective get drained? Will George, Nina and Tom be safe out in the woods with all this going on? Why is Nina showing signs of pregnancy so quickly? Will Herrick feel like he has deja vu? Will Annie confront Mitchell with what she knows? Will Mitchell be arrested? Will they try to take a mug shot? In the midst of this, why do we hear Dame Shirley Bassey and Propellerheads perform History Repeating?
