New Members David, Gordon & Candace

Photobucket Photobucket Candace Butler
Left to right: David, Gordon & Candace.

I would like to welcome three new followers to Soundtrack to my Day. As you can see from the pictures above, David, Gordon and Candace have joined the family, and adding a bit more beauty to our landscape.

David is David Raleigh, a New York City-based artist who was recently featured on the blog. The handsome Raleigh is an out R&B singer/songwriter how organized the charity single remake of That's What Friends Are For, co-starring with Alan Cumming, Billy Porter, and blog fave Ari Gold. You can check out his website here. You can check out his latest release, Beginning Again, on iTunes here.

Gordon is a new follower from Atlanta, Georgia, works at The Weather Channel, and is a contributor to a blog group. Aside from his appreciation of music, Gordon has a good sense of humor and lists a superpower of "Ability to charm animals & children, much like The Pied Piper of Hamelin."

Candace is a student at a Virgina university, is interested in peace and happiness, and lists her superpower as "dancing in the rain." She also states "I'm a Christian, student studying English and Art, writer and graphic designer, singer, and Amway IBO."

So, welcome to David, Gordon and Candace, and everyone else who has decided to join in the community at the blog. As is customary and tradition here at Soundtrack, I would like to welcome them the way we do best here, with a video. And I can think of no better way than to use some music of David Raleigh, from his latest album. This is the completely charming I Do!, from David's New Beginnings album.

Welcome all!

New Follower - Albie

Albie
New Follower Albie

Well, I have to admit to having just a bit of a giggle when I first checked out the picture of the newest follower for Soundtrack to my Day, Albie. The strikingly handsome young man is from Brussels, Belgium, and on his profile, declares he is "interested in everything!" While he doesn't have a blog of his own, be does seem to follow several, and lists as his interest blogs, men, gay issues and drag queens, art, and travel and fine living. He is a Gemini, a computer tech specialist, and, as I said before, just cute as a button! Hopefully, Albie will feel free to join in the discussions on the blog and we will learn even more about him in the months to come.

Photobucket
Billy Dortch

To welcome Albie to the blog, I will do the traditional welcome of a song/video selected for the occasion. So it didn't take me long to think it was time to bring out a song by Billy Dortch, Breathe. This seems like a great choice to me, for not only do I love the song, Billy is also a beautiful young thing, and seemed like the correct greeter for Albie. I had written about Dortch over a year ago, here. So, this is for Albie.

New Members October 2010

Chazonator Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

I'd like to welcome four new followers to the Soundtrack to my Day family. First, though, I would like to apologize to them, as I have not welcomed them previously. The whole situation with the broken glasses really put me a bit behind, but I hope to make up for it now. First I'd like to welcome Chazonator. In his own description, he refers to himself as 'Singer-Songwriter-Video producer-Equality activist-parent-friend-lover-real person', all of which are evident if you check out his blog, which you can find here. Definitely check his blog out, and you might find some interesting stuff! You can find links to check out his music, his news reports, and often politically-charged posts. Welcome to Derek Brown, who hails from Mississippi, where he owns a floral shop. He found us via Twitter, and you can check him out here. His tweets range from pop culture to political, and are quite interesting. He also looks cute as a button in his picture.

And a fine welcome to Sugar, an out and proud lesbian with two blogs of her own. She describes herself as 'Writer, Indie Artist, Pet Lover, Lesbian - currently awaiting a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis or Fibromyalgia.' One of her blogs is a music oriented one called Tantalizing Fruit, which you can find here. The other is more personal in nature, called These Joints. You can find it here. I'd also like to welcome Sokhengs Sor, who just joined us this week. Sokhengs has a blog you can find here, which is more adult in nature.

To welcome the new members of the Soundtrack family, I always try to make them feel at home with music I love. Today I offer up the music of Andy Moore, an out lesbian from Richmond, Virgina, who I have been lucky enough to see perform a couple of times. The song is Chicago from her latest release, the 5 In Common EP. You can check it out at CD Baby here.

You can find out more about mandy by visiting her MySpace page here, and her official website here. And please welcome the new members, and I hope we get to know them through their comments.

Six New Followers

Top: Sizzlyn & Kathy. Middle: Melony [with Theo Tams] & Miss Holly Housewife. Bottom: Gabrielle & Bjorn.

OK, it has been a buys couple of weeks, and I have been derelict in my duties. Since last reported, there are six new members of the Soundtrack family, and it is way past time I have welcomed them. So, Sizzlyn, Kathy, Melony, Holly, Gabrielle and Bjorn.

Sizzlyn is someone I am familiar with on Twitter and on the blog The Chris Dallman Connection, where she is a host. She is from Singapore, and from what I can tell, is very smart and sweet. Kathy and Melony are two of my Tams-manian devils, sharing my love for the music of Theo Tams. Kathy is an online buddy, as I did not get a chance to meet her on my sojourn in Toronto. Melony, on the other hand, kept me company for all three shows I went to, including the one with the unfortunate view in Oshawa.

I might be mistaken, but I don't think that picture really is Miss Holly Housewife, but I would say the picture captures her thoughts well, as she has a bit of a retro feel, a fondness for the 40s, 50s and 60s. She has two blogs, Being Bree Hodge and Through the Looking Glass... Into Never, Neverland. BBH celebrates housewifery in the style of a Desperate Housewife, while TTLGINN talks about and celebrates vintage Pop culture. Gabrielle does not have a blog of her own, but describes herself as I'm a silly, vegan, gluten free, cancer survivor, 22 year old college student that is addicted to Facebook, Twitter... oh yeah & my Blackberry! so I am sure many can identify! And, finally, there is Bjorn, a blogger in charge of Bjorn's Brutzelbude. Bjorn is German [I believe] and his blog covers anything from cute boys, pop culture, to tidbits of Bjorn's personal life. The blog is written in German, but there is a translate button just below some pictures of Bjorn, so you can read it easily.

And for the traditional greeting, I feel the need to offer a couple of videos, as I was a naughty boy who is a bit tardy, so I have figured out I would go with three videos. First up will be Theo Tams singing Weak In The Knees, because when I check in to find additional followers, I feel just that. This clip of the Serena Ryder song is from the show in Etobicoke I attended last month.

For those liking the mid-century style, I offer you Fly Me To The Moon by one of my favorite groups, Westlife. Yes, they aren't mid-century themselves, but they do a fantastic job with the song, and the Allow Me To Be Frank album is a winner for sure! I used the song in a slide show for my parents 50th anniversary.

And, finally, for those who like their music in the singer/songwriter vein, there is the amazing Christopher Dallman singing Subterranean, a glorious song . The clip is from a show in Los Angeles earlier this year. I love the song, and was going to say it is a favorite from his recent stuff, but all his songs are so good, I can't pick a favorite.

So, here is hoping everyone feels welcome and at home here at Soundtrack to my Day, and we get to know you a bit more and we get a chance to chat!

New Followers - Mind of Mine & Avishek

new followers,mind of mine
Left: Mind of Mine. Right: Avishek.

I would like to welcome two new followers to the blog, Mind of Mine and Avishek. Mind of Mine is a fellow blogger from Manchester, England. He talks about some of the gay culture around him, and is a fun read. Check him out here. I love the quote he uses for his blog: "Continually opening the wrong doors. Eventually I will open the right one." I can identify. Avishek is a 22-year-old str8 man from India, who is also a musician, at least I think he is from his picture. Unfortunately, I couldn't find his music to give it a listen, but if you read this Avishek, and there is music, let me know! I do know he seems to be friends with Chris Keys, and I am a big fan as well, giving me greater desire to hear Avishek's music! You can check out his MySpace page here.

As is custom, I am going to play a video to welcome the new followers. As luck would have it, I just found a new video by one of my favorites, Aiden James. He posted a videoblog that included a cover of Patty Griffin's Rain. Such a beautiful song, and a great cover of Aiden.

So welcome, Mind of Mine & Avishek. Hope to hear from you soon!

New Followers - McNary & Eshan

Photobucket Photobucket
McNary, left, and Eshan, right.

Hey folks, sorry I've been a bit behind on the blog lately, but life has kept me a bit at bay. However, we do have two fabulous new members of the Soundtrack family, and I will be starting with McNary. He is an Atlanta, Georgia-based indie singer/songwriter, whose music is self-described as indie-pop/alt-Country, while I would add an influence of the blues, with an amazingly expressive voice. When checking him out, I have to say I really enjoyed the music I heard. I had to go to his FaceBook page and add myself as a fan here. You can also check out his music on YouTube here, although I will say I am posting one of his clips below, because I enjoyed it so much. Also, you can check out his blog here.

Also, I'd like to welcome Eshan Kanwar, an engineering student from Punjab, India. His interests include soccer, movies, reading and music, according to his profile. Eshan has also done a bit of writing on a newly revived blog here. His writing is very introspective and interesting. Check him out.

The traditional Soundtrack welcome has been some music, and I decided to share McNary's music with everyone this time. If you enjoy it like I do, hit on one of the links in his paragraph and check it out. I am interested in hearing more, that is for sure. The song is Would Be Lover.

Welcome everyone!

New Followers - #100 & 101

paul bright,new followers,sa new followers,paul bright,sa

I have to say, hitting the century mark with followers is quite amazing to me. And knowing who is #100 made it all the more special. If that wasn't great enough, there was #101, whom I hadn't known at all until she had recently commented on a post, and opted to stick around. I am liking this!

First, the 100th follower for Soundtrack to my Day is Paul Bright, the handsome and talented writer/director/actor/producer/whatever-the-hell-else-he-wants-to-do. Paul heads up Silly Bunny Pictures, whose movies have been featured here on this blog, including Angora Ranch, Theft, and Aaron...Albeit A Sex Hero. I get all warm and fuzzy at the thought Paul is following me here on the blog, it is such a compliment! You can catch Paul at the website for Silly Bunny Pictures here, his Facebook page here, or the his blog here. You can visit my latest post here and see trailers for all his films.

The addition of the 101st follower is also heartwarming. S'A stopped by, left a comment, and has continued to return. She is a 40-something blogger with two interesting blogs, Bratwurst Times and Life in Altamont. She makes her home in Illinois with her family. Stop by her blogs and tell her 'hello!'

As is the tradition, I have picked out a video to welcome the new members. I decided to go with INXS from Live Aid. They beamed in from Sidney, Australia, playing at the Oz Arena. In this clip, they sing What You Need and Don't Change, two fantastic songs! And one can never watch enough of the late Michael Hutchence performing, you know?

New Member & the Heat

new follower,bessy

The latest member of the Soundtrack family is Bessy Ninoska, a Virgo with somewhat eclectic taste in music as well as her own blog. You can check out RetroDiscoChic here. As my Spanish is somewhat non-existent, I can't really tell you much about the blog, so you should go and check it out yourself.

While I usually offer a video to welcome the new followers, I couldn't resist posting the following due to the second day of 100 degree (F) weather on the East Coast of the US. So here is Linda Ronstadt singing Heatwave.

New Follower - SisterHazel

new followers,sisterhazel

I would like to offer a hearty welcome to Sisterhazel, the newest member of the Soundtrack circle of friends. Sisterhazel is also known as Louice Dahlberg, and since her music blog is no longer active, can be found on FaceBook here.

As is my custom, here is a video to welcome Louice to the fold. I thought I would double the pleasure with two of my favorites, Christopher Dallman and Aiden James, singing Dallman's Little Bit Of Blue from his latest EP, Never Was.

For more on Christopher, check out his official website here. There you can check out his music, and find the links to purchase his extraordinary music. You can check out Aiden at his website here.

New Followers - TrannyBeth & Brighton J

new followers new followers
Left to right: Brighton J and Beth.

I would like to welcome two new followers to Soundtrack to my Day. First, let me just ask, 'TrannyBeth, what the hell took you so long?!' OK, that might be harsh, but she is one of the major reasons I have a blog at all, and it sure feels nice to have her on board! You can check out her blog Blind As A Bat here. When you visit, check out the gorgeous pictures she takes, as well as those beautiful children she gave birth to. And in case you don't notice from the picture, she is one hot mamma!

Also, a hearty welcome for Brighton J, although, sadly, I don't know much about them. In the 'About Me:' section, it also says Brave Little Pop Star's, and there lists a website of the same name, yet I can't seem to open it. So, all I can offer is a huge hello!

As is the tradition here, I like to welcome people with music. So, this time out the gate, I chose to go with a Little Van Morrison, cause he just amazing. And, since it is Sunday morning, I thought I would go with Van singing Into The Mystic from his Moondance album.

New Followers - Waiting For John & Cello Josh

Photobucket new follower
Left to right: Waiting for John & Cello Josh.

I would like to welcome two new followers to the blog, Waiting For John & CelloJosh. Waiting for John is a blogger who has his own blog here. It is written by Tristram Spencer, an interesting guy with a very different perspective on life. Cello Josh is a Philadelphia-based cellist who works at a lawfirm in Philly, and playing with the Philadelphia Orchestra when needed. Both seem to like music, which should be needed here at this blog.

In what is now a tradition here at Soundtrack to my Day, I offer up a video to introduce the new followers to everyone already here. So today I chose the textured layers of Vermonter Gregory Douglass singing Hang Around.

New Follower - Raspberry Beret

new follower, raspberry beret new follower, raspberry beret
Raspberry Beret, and a picture of her with Wes Carr.

I'd like to welcome a new follower, who is also kinda an old friend, even though we've never met. The internets make things all kinds of confusing, don't they? Anyway, Raspberry Beret is a smart and bright Aussie gal, with a love for "music, lollies and cocktails that contain mint and lime." Sounds like our kinda gal, don't it? Anyway, she is also a fan of Wes Carr, the brilliant Aussie rocker I have featured here several times. In fact, while I whined about not being able to get his latest album on Twitter, she stepped right up not only to tell me where to buy, but where to order it at the best price! Who can ask for more than that! After all, shopping in a distant continent is only made easier with friends like her. She has her own music blog, called Rock Around The Clock. Check it out here.

Now, it only seems appropriate to welcome her with a bit of Australian joy, the man himself, Wes Carr, singing When We Were Kings (Acoustic). This is a cut from the album she helped me get in, The Way The World Looks. It is a great album, and a cool song.

Enjoy, and give Raspberry Beret a big welcome!

New Followers - Paul, Lee & Alex & SIRPAUL Exclusive

new follower, paul new follower, archy and mehitabel
Left: Paul Peterson Right: Archy & Mehitabel

There are times I just feel I can never catch up, and lately, that is where I have been. I've been meaning to post the about these new followers all week long, because it is not often I have three handsome men wanting to follow me anywhere. Damn, even I had to roll my eyes at that one. So, back to the point, I am pleased to welcome some new members. First, a big hello to Paul Peterson. Unfortunately, aside from seeing he is a rather handsome man, I don't have much information, so I hope to get to know him in the comments soon. I'd also like to welcome the two-for-one package of Archy and Mehitabel, otherwise known as the devilishly handsome Lee Waters and Alexander Horwitz. I am a huge fan of their music, always eager to hear what they have coming next, as well as to listen to the EPs I have in my collection. If you haven't already, you should check out getupkategetup, their latest offering, here. You can check out my review of that EP here. Their official website is here.

Well, I was trying to figure out what I should use as a welcome for the new followers, and thought it might be too cheesy to welcome Archy and Mehitabel with their own video, and I don't have a new one, so I would go in a different direction. It just so happens SIRPAUL just released the title track from his upcoming CD, Music & Me, so I thought I would let everyone hear it. If you like it, feel free to stop by either SIRPAUL's website here or the YouTube page and leave a comment to tell him.

New Follower - Deep Dish

new follower,marc harshbarger

I would like to welcome another new follower to Soundtrack to my Day, Marc Harshbarger. Marc is a writer, having two novels already published. He has his own blog, Deep Dish, also the name of his first book. The subtitle, 'Groovy Thoughts of a Gay Writer', pretty much describes his delightful blog. Marc lives in Chicago with his partner, and two cats. Hopefully, we'll get to know even more about Marc in the near future.

For the traditional welcome, inspired by the love I feel when a new follower joins the group and the spelling of Marc's name, here is I Feel Love/Johnny, by the amazing Bronski Beat and featuring the brilliant Marc Almond.

Sunday, April 11, 2010

New Follower - Gerard

Gerard Gravallese,new follower

Gerard is a handsome guy new to the group here at Soundtrack to my Day. And while there is not much information about Gerard on his Blogger page. But, I have a feeling I know how Gerard is, someone I've chatted with a few times on Twitter. So, while I might not have any real information to share with you about Gerard, this certainly gives Gerard a chance to introduce himself when he feels ready. So, welcome Gerard!

As is the case with new arrivals, I would like to give the traditional welcome, a music video. Today's choice is Nirvana's Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam, a perfect choice for this Sunday. Enjoy.

Sunday, March 28, 2010

New Follower - Kallie

new follower,kallie

I'd like to welcome Kallie to the Soundtrack family. She hails from Colorado, and has her own blog, Beware the Moxiesaurus. There you can read about her "love of dinosaurs, fuzzy creatures, a full moon, pop punk, pineapple and police mysteries." Stop by and give her a big hug hello.

To welcome Kallie, I thought I would use the traditional greeting, a music video, this time out being one of my favorite Blondie songs, Call Me. The song was a hit in 1980, helped out by the inclusion in the soundtrack for the Richard Gere movie American Gigolo. Hard to believe that was 30 years ago.

New Followers - Karen, Nelson G & Kurt

Right to left: Karen, Nelson G and Kurt

It is my pleasure to welcome three new followers to the Soundtrack family, Karen, Nelson G. and Kurt Cybulski. Karen is a Floridian, and has two blogs of her own. College Maven's Haven gives her a place to talk about whatever crosses her mind, and Kissimmee Daily Photo is where she posts photos of the town where she lives on a regular basis. Nelson G has the blog NGBlog, where he is 'Just someone trying to have my say, one blog entry at a time.' I like that approach, cause I think that is what we are all doing, each in our own way. And Kurt just joined, other than the photo above. Hopefully, we shall be learning more about Kurt in the comment section soon.

And, as tradition dictates, I will welcome you both to the blog by playing an old favorite of my own, and today that will be Eric Himan's wonderfully soulful There's Gotta Be Something from his There Gotta Be Something EP. This was Eric's first music video, and I thought it was so well done.

Welcome aboard, Karen and Nelson G!

New Followers - Cubby & Jason

Left to right: Cubby & Jason Shaw

I am very pleased to welcome two new followers here at Soundtrack, well, really one old friend and one new. Cubby has been around for a while, and is now back. I hope we get to hear much from him, for he is a great guy. He hails from Ohio, and always has something interesting to add to any conversation.

Jason Shaw is a new friend, one I met on Twitter (@jason_shaw) and I found my way to his blog, The Seafront Diaries. Check it out here. He also works for several other websites writing news stories and editorials, including Gay World News and the Gay Agenda. For links to his work there, check out GWN and TGA. Jason is from Brighton in the UK. Jason was also kind enough to feature this blog on the Best Gay Blogs site, find it here.

As tradition dictates, I enjoy welcoming people to the group here with some music that is part of the soundtrack to my day, music I like to listen to all the time. So today, I'd like to offer a New Beginning by Stephen Gately, a gifted performer and a adorable out and proud gay man who passed away five months ago. RIP Stephen, I still listen to your music and love it. And Cubby, here is to new beginnings.

New Followers - Melissa, Daniel & T

Left to right: Melissa, Daniel & T

Once again I am thrilled to introduce new followers to the readers of Soundtrack to my Day. First up we have Melissa 'Melicious' Joulwan, who describes herself as someone who reads, writes, cooks, cleans, works out and makes music. She has the interesting site Roller Girl: Totally True Tales of the Track here. Daniel describes himself as 'a lazy Scandinavian 40+ bi-ish conspiracy minded suspicious control freak guy with diagnosed mood disorders scared of flying trust issues and a rollercoaster life behind me. Proud dad of two.' Fairly fascinating, right? You can visit his blog here. And, last but not least, there is T, a 26-year-old from Dublin. He participates in Stephen's 5 On The Fifth challenge, and has his own blog. It's All About Me and Other Stuff.... can be found here.

As tradition dictates, I will welcome everyone with a favorite musical offering. Today's Vimeo clip is a song off Christopher Dallman's debut album, Race The Light. It is a fantastic song, This Is Calm.

This is Calm from Kevin Thompson on Vimeo.

Welcome New Followers

Top: Aiden James, left, and Stan, right.
Bottom: Robert, left, and Tony Verzino, right.

It has been a while, but I need to get back on the ball here. There are four new followers joining us in the Soundtrack world; Aiden, Stan, RobertGA99, and Tony Verzino. Three are relatively new people, and one is an 'old' friend joining the fun.

Aiden James is a fantastic singer/songwriter based out of Philadelphia, and a fantastic guy. I have blogged about him often, for I am a fan of his music, having seen him performing live often. Aiden also has a blog of his own here. Stan is a widower from New Jersey, and has a blog as well. Metro Dystopia is his blog, and it takes a look at some very hunky men, although it might be NSFW. You can visit it here. Robert is a handsome guy from Georgia. His blog is a collection of hot guys, pop culture and personal stories called Bob Out. Check it out here. And finally there is Tony Verzino, who seems kinda handsome from what we can see in the tiny picture, and has no blog of his own. Don't really know much about him, but hope to learn more in the coming months.

So, welcome everyone! For the traditional Soundtrack hug, I will go to the obvious and give you Aiden James singing a couple of songs at a radio station about 45 minutes from me here in Delaware. And the live show they are talking about - I was so there!
