Five on the 5th • August 2012

New 5 on the 5th Banner

Although Stephen Chapman put Five on the 5th on hiatus last December, he resurrected the posting once again for this Summer special. He offered the assignment as "Take 5 photographs on the days leading up to the 5th and publish those on your own blog and then add the link to my blog so that others can find your images. You can either take 5 random pictures or follow this months theme: SUMMER." So I decided to look at the pictures I've taken this summer, and make this happen.

Five on the Fifth Special Event • August 5, 2012

New 5 on the 5th Banner

Tomorrow, Sunday August 5, 2012, Stephen Chapman is planning a special Five on the Fifth post, with the theme being "Summer". For those who might not remember, Five on the Fifth was launched to give people an opportunity all over the world a chance to share their photographs, and a little bit of their lives every month. This will be the first posting since Stephen took the international posts to hiatus last December. I am planning to participate, and this is a picture I almost used, but instead will use it for this teaser...

Five on the 5th • December 2011

New 5 on the 5th Banner

For the final time, I will post for Five on the 5th, and this month, Stephen Chapman has given the theme of Winter Weekend. Now, I have to say, despite this being November/December, winter has yet to really take hold here in Delaware. So, here are some pictures I have taken here on the farm, taken while on a fall/winter walk. If you'd like to check out the others who are taking part in Five on the 5th, click here and pick different sites from the list.

Jamie Cullum Reminds Us @ Five on the 5th

New 5 on the 5th Banner

I received a little advance notice from Stephen Chapman about December's Five on the Fifth. He has decided to end the monthly effort after two years of participation around the globe with the December 5th installment. "So, the final '5 on the Fifth' needs to feature as many people as possible," Stephen told us. "Just take 5 photographs on the days leading up to the 5th and publish those on your own blog and then add the link to my blog so that others can find your images. As always, you can either take 5 random pictures or follow this months theme: Winter Weekend."

To remind us, I thought I would offer up the song Photograph by English Pop star Jamie Cullum. I love Jamie's voice, and his Jazzy stylings.

For more about Jamie, check out his official website here. Photograph is from his third release, 2005's Catching Tales. You can find it on iTunes here, and on Amazon here.

Five on the 5th • November 2011

New 5 on the 5th Banner

It is time once again for Five on the 5th, and this month, Stephen Chapman has given the theme of Movement. Once again, I've been more busy than I'd care to be, having seen several live music shows as of late. So, while they really don't capture movement, I thought I would sue some of the pictures I've taken at those shows. If you'd like to check out the others who are taking part in Five on the 5th, click here and pick different sites from the list.

Five on the 5th - October 2011

New 5 on the 5th Banner

It is time once again for Five on the 5th, and this month, Stephen Chapman has given the theme of PLEASURE. To tell the truth, I've been busy the last month or so, attending parties and soccer games for my niece, nephew, and great-nephew. And taking pictures. So, several of my selections for this month will come out of those events. If you'd like to check out the others who are taking part in Five on the 5th, click here and pick different sites from the list on the page.

As I am wont to add music to all my posts, I decided to go with Kate Bush' Moments Of Pleasure, to abide by the theme presented. It is the new version, from the album Director's Cut. You can find the album anywhere music is sold, including iTunes and Amazon. So hit play, and check out the new pictures.

Five on the 5th - August 2011

New 5 on the 5th Banner

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's 5 on the Fifth posts. This month, Stephen announced the theme is MESS. I decided to take on the challenge of the theme, in my own way. Luckily, over the Labor Day Weekend I went to the beach for a brief trip with my sister and her grandchildren. Kathy and I took Reed and Bryce on the rides in Playland Arcade in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. We went on some rides, played a little Skee Ball, before driving back home. Well walking into Playland is like walking into a lesson on a mess. All of my senses were inundated, as the bright colors of the rides were jammed into a small space. There was loud piped in carnival music coming from many of the rides, and people everywhere, chatting, yelling, screaming and laughing. There was food being made. Well, no healthy food, but fried dough, popcorn, sour gummy worms. And that blasted music...

So, this was my idea of a mess.

The Paratrooper ride had people living up.

The Free-Fall ride and the Helicopter were in the same tight frame.

People were flipping, spinning, swinging and climbing on all kinds of rides.

5 on the 5th • Clayton, DE

New 5 on the 5th Banner

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's 5 on the Fifth posts. This month, Stephen announced the theme is MY TOWN. I decided to take on the challenge of the theme. First, however, I thought a bit of information would be appropriate now. Clayton is located centrally in the state of Delaware, on the East Coast of the US. The actual town is about 1 square mile in area, but there is plenty of surrounding farmland that is considered to be in the mailing zone of Clayton. In 2010, the official census put the population of the town just under 3,000 people. While I live on the outskirts of a rather small town, we do have a Clayton mailing address. And to set the mood a bit more, I thought I would post Simon & Garfunkel's My Little Town, and you can hit play and listen while you are looking at the pictures.

The public drinking fountain. I will be honest, I have never had a drink from it, and never will. But it is nice that they continue to take care of it.

Looking down the sidewalk of Main Street is like looking down the sidewalk of any small town in the country.

The old train depot, which has been long closed. The tracks are used by freight trains, and can be heard running at night. For a long time, the depot was an antique shop. I am not sure what is in it now.

Well, that is the quick tour of my town, Clayton, Delaware. I have some more pictures I loaded into the folder here. To see the collections of others who are participating, visit here.

New 5 on the 5th Banner

Come one, come all! Please tell your friends! It's simple, it's easy! Be a part of the worldwide movement started by Stephen Chapman. All you need to do is to take 5 photographs on the days leading up to the 5th and publish those on your own blog and then add the link to my blog so that others can find your images.

This month, the theme is MY TOWN (or you can either take 5 pictures on this theme, or 5 random pictures, as usual). Check out Stephen's site here.

Five on the 5th - July 2011

New 5 on the 5th Banner

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's Five on the 5th posts. I am a tad late, because I was working on the photos, which I just took last night. This month, to celebrate the 25th month of this little photographic challenge, the theme is SILVER.

So I decided to take on the challenge of the theme, and decide how I would depict silver on here. I decided to gather up what 'silver' I had, and think a bit. So I was soon playing with the reflective quality of my metal, which was not real silver at all. And the following is what I ended up with.

Five on the 5th - June 2011

New 5 on the 5th Banner

It is the 5th of the month, time for Stephen Chapman's Five on the Fifth posts. I am a tad late, because I was working on the photos, which I just took last night. This month, Stephen suggested the theme, "New." Last night, I went to my niece's dance recital, and took pictures. It was darling, with plenty of kids of all talent levels.
