Justin Utley Plans New Music Video

Singer/Songwriter Justin Utley is looking to make a music video for his award-winning song "Stand For Something", and is looking for your help to do it. Utley has signed up with IndieGoGo, the fundraising website which helps independent artists get seed money for projects they might otherwise not have a chance to do. For Justin, that is to put out a great video for an amazing song, which you can listen to here.

Many of you might remember Justin from earlier posts, for I have been a fan of his music for several years, having first discovered him on MySpace, back when people still went there. Justin was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly a member of the Mormon church. But Justin left the church when he came to terms with being an out and proud gay man, and headed to New York City. There he started making music, including his 2005 release, 'Runaway', an album I proudly have in my iTunes playlist. He also released 'Nothing Is Real' in 2011, another smart collection of songs. Now, we can all see in the pictures at the top of this post that Justin is a handsome man, just made to be watched on screen. So I think it is only natural to want to see his video - I can't be alone in this. OUTstanding R&B, Dance & Folk/Country Songs

I am continuing the series to spotlight the award winning entries for Rock, Pop and Hip-Hop for the 7th Annual OUTmusic Awards. The Awards were given in New York City.



I cannot express how pleased I am to announce that the winner of the OUTstanding R&B Song is The Gay Warrior Song by Nhojj. The gifted singer/songwriter picked up his second win in the category, having won last year for Love. Nhojj has been featured on this blog before (5 times, to be exact), and will undoubtedly again. To be named the OUTstanding Dance Song is impressive, as it is a hotly contested division. But when you give a listen to Intoxicated by Chadwick, you will know why he was victorious. Justin Utley - Stand For Something

I introduced you to Justin Utley back in May, and there is some news about him. He has just released a new single, Stand For Something, and it is good! The ballad starts off as an autobiographical tune, and builds to near anthem levels. And that is when Justin really brings it home, risking himself with the lyrics, and brings it home while avoiding being overly dramatic. His lovely, nuanced performance in the last third of the song is as damn close to perfect as you can get.
