Sunday Morning with Sam Harris

Sam Harris

I thought today we would spend the morning with Sam Harris, a man who leaped to fame after his appearance on the original Star Search program. He was the little guy from Oklahoma on the first season of the show, with the huge voice. When he owned the stage as he sung "Over The Rainbow", he also stole the hearts of many in the viewing audience. His career has included stage, television, and records, and still goes strong, adding directing and producing to his list of talents. In 2003, he recorded a sweet and subtle mash-up of the songs "The Voice" and John Lennon's "Imagine" that was used by many to solute the brave members of the armed forces.

Sometimes you can tell when a singer truly feels deeply about a song they are performing. You can see that is the case when Sam sings Paul Simon's anthem for the ages, "Bridge Over Troubled Water".

Sam has done his fair share of musical theater, in Regional theaters, national tours, and on Broadway. That includes Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, a wonderful show, to be sure. Watch and listen to the stunning performance of the beautiful song, "Close Every Door To Me".

You can find more about Sam Harris on his official website. You can also follow him on Twitter and Facebook. He is also singing a song on the upcoming release from Tony-winner Levi Kreis, something I look forward to hearing. You can find him music on Amazon and iTunes.

Joseph Opens In Seattle Tonight

New photo: Anthony in costume from Seattle Production via AmericanIdol.com.

According to the ad, Anthony Fedorov opens tonight in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Seattle, Washington, at the 5th Avenue Theater. It stars American Idol Alumnus Anthony as Joseph. I think Joseph might be my favorite Rice/Webber musical, for it's campiness and almost cartoonish nature makes it such a joy to watch. And speaking of a joy to watch, Anthony is a good looking young man who spends part of the show shirtless, which would be worth the price of admission. But he also has a beautiful voice. He had done the show earlier this summer, and I found this video with Anthony singing and some still pictures. He sings Close Every Door To Me.

Anthony has such a strong and beautiful tone to his voice. The end of that song gives me goosebumps! To find out more about the production, go to the theater's website here. Check It Out - Joseph & His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Why, might you ask? Because one of the stars is Anthony Fedorov, a young man from the suburbs of Philadelphia who went on to finish fourth on the fourth season of American Idol, who I happen to think is a talented guy. In fact, a couple of years ago, I went to see him perform live with my friend Rickey, and we had a great time. Anthony has a great voice, and has such enthusiasm for music that it is tough not to enjoy him.

So, Anthony is playing Joseph in a production in 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle, Washington. He is no stranger to theater, having played Matt in the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks in 2007, and later sang in a touring company of Simply Ballroom. This past summer, he also played Joseph in a production for the Oklahoma City Lyric Theater. Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be playing at the 5th Avenue Theater from October 10th thru November 1st.

To find out more about the production, go to the theater's website here. To find out more about Anthony Fedorov, check out his MySpace here. If you do, check out the beautiful song Remember on his MySpace page, which he not only sings, but also wrote.
