Milestone • Over 2 Million Hits

 photo fireworks 2_zpswxqlpjpw.jpg

I am not sure exactly when S2MD passed 2 million hits, but is sneaked up on me, and passed me by. But even if it surprised me, I find it cause for celebration. So light the fireworks, and and strike up the band, and let the party begin!

But before I drink just a little too much, I wanted to say to everyone who reads this blog that I am so very grateful for your support over the past six years. I must admit, when I started 'Soundtrack to my Day' in June of 2009, I had no idea I'd still be at it, and would have more that 2 million hits. For that, I owe my heartfelt thanks to all who have stopped here, and helped me share some great music. But, I must admit, rather than spewing more, I think I will let an artists speak for me. This is the late, great Sylvester, with his wonderful song "Grateful".

For many who stop by here, I feel as though we have become friends, or more apropos, e-friends. Like we are back in college again, you stop by my room, listen to some music, and hopefully, had a great time. We might be in different states, or, in some cases, in different countries, but we are having a shared experience nonetheless. To thank my dear friends, I thought I would share with you a great clip of Michael Feinstein singing "Old Friend", written by Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford.

And, finally, I want to offer a big "Thank You!" to everyone involved, be it those who stop by to read and listen, as well as the artist who are making amazing music that inspires me all the time. While I love all music, it is the LGBT artists in particular that really lift me up, and make me proud to post about their music. In my time writing this blog, I've seen artists releasing music, some of which I still follow and love. Others made a big impression, but just kinda disappeared, like the band I am featuring next. Archy & Mehitabel was made up by the very handsome duo of Lee Waters & Alexander Horwitz. I loved all the music they made, and still listen to it. And they have the perfect song for the mood I am in. This is "Thank You" by Archy and Mehitabel.

So, once again, I just want to thank everyone who helps make this blog possible. From the readers of the blog, both regular and those who just stopped by for a favorite song, to the artists who sing their heart out and make music I can't help but share, to the fans with their posted videos that reminds me of some great music, to the people who share links to help promote these amazing musicians. Thank you all, 2 million times over.

A Million Thank Yous

Soundtrack to my Day

I wanted to take a moment to thank you all the readers of Soundtrack to my Day, as we hit a new milestone this morning. S2MD has passed 1 Million hits, all because of you. Each and every one of you. To say I couldn't do it without you would be the understatement of the year. Between the readers and the amazing artists I get to write about, I couldn't imagine a greater support base for myself and the blog. Just know that your support is deeply and truly appreciated. I will try to show my thanks in the only way I know how, and that is with a song. So here is out singer/songwriter Janis Ian with "Thanksyous," off her 1974 album Stars.

Thank you. A million times "thank you."

New Milestone Hit

500,000 Hits with Led Zeppelin

While I wasn't looking, the blog went by another milestone, passing half-million hits. Honestly, I am blown away, and never imagined when I started this thing 2 years ago that this day would come. I couldn't be more grateful for all the readers who come to this blog to read about the music of my youth, or the fantastic indie music I am listening to today. To celebrate the occasion, I am bringing out one from the vaults, from the famed 1973 show in Madison Square Garden in New York City. Personal favorites of mine, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham and John Paul Jones, better known as Led Zeppelin.

Over 300,000 Served!

soundtrack to my day,blogging
Cheers!

Sometime over the weekend when I was being distracted by something shiny or whatever, the blog went over 300,000 hits. While I am not one to be overly celebratory, I think this is something I'd really like to acknowledge. So to all my readers, thank you so very much. When I started this blog on June 9, 2009, I had no idea what I was doing, or what, exactly, I was going to blog about, except I wanted to talk about some of my favorite musicians. I was pretty clueless. But evolution did happen, and soon I was posting about the music of my youth, some TV shows I was watching, movies I have seen, and some new artists I found along the way. What came as a big shock to me? People were reading what I had to say, to hear what I was listening to.

My own musical taste is a bit on the eclectic side, and the same could be said for the music on the blog. While I do have a penchant for the acoustic folk music, as can be seen looking through the posts, my music is certainly not limited to any one genre. That has often been the case, as can be seen with my posts about the artists from my youth, which is just as varied, from Barbra Streisand to Led Zeppelin. One of the things I love about the blog is that I feel it has brought together a group of people that also have their own taste, but have all been more than happy to discuss music that interests them, and do it out of love for the music. This positive support for the blog and the music has made it a wonderful experience.

I've also been lucky enough to have been contacted by many of the artists who have appeared on the blog, all very positive. All I can say is that their music has made my life better, and without it, there would be no blog, would there? It has been my pleasure to include as many independent and/or LGBT acts and performers as I could, for they are often left to fend for themselves, and it is really great music that should be heard. They have enriched my life, and I am very grateful they continue to make music or movies that speak to my experience, my life. To all you brave people putting yourselves out there, Thank you.

So, I will celebrate this milestone the only way I know how on the blog, with a music video that sums up my feelings at the moment. For the 300,000 hits on Soundtrack to my Day, I offer you Jimmy Somerville, with a nod to the glorious Sylvester, singing You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real), a perfect statement from my heart right now.

Welcome New Follower Gerard

Welcome Gerard Gravallese, a new member of the Soundtrack family. Gerard, who lives in Seattle, made the decision to follow the blog, and I want to take the opportunity to say hello, and hope we learn a bit more about you in the coming posts. Although Gerard doesn't have a blog of his own, I hope he'll stop by and enjoy the fun people we have here.

Also, I wanted to take the chance to thank everyone for for the support. On Friday, January 15, the clicker ticked past 50,000 page views, another amazing milestone for the blog. To celebrate this I searched around for the perfect song to express my appreciation, and came up a bit short. I thought I would go in a different direction, and just surfed for a bit, both my iTunes and YouTube, and came up with a song I thought would be an interesting choice for the world in which we live. So here is Midge Ure singing Dear God.

Another Milestone - 10,000

At some point on Friday, this blog received the 10,000 hit. This happened while I wasn't looking, and all I can think to say is thank you so very much. When I started this blog just over 3 months ago, I never would have had a clue anyone would be interested in my petty ramblings about music I enjoy. But I decided to do a blog that focused on music that makes me happy, and to avoid writing about what doesn't, to keep this a positive blog, and with your help, I think we have done that together.

For those who have been with me from the start, you have my gratitude. To those finding the blog more recently, I am so glad you have come. Feel free to keep coming back, and to click on the follow button on the upper right-hand side of the screen to help keep up with the latest posts. To all the artists whose music has appeared in the blog, thanks for putting out great music, and to those who have contacted me, thank you for your support.
