New Music - Hurts

I can't tell you how grateful I am for my Twitter friend @xolondon. He has turned me on to another group I like, a Manchester, England, duo called Hurts. Singer Theo Hutchcraft and synthesiser Adam Anderson hail from the city that gave us The Smiths, Buzzcocks, Joy Division and New Order. Hurts certainly show off their roots similar to the last two bands, also synth-based pop/dance music. Recently signed to the Sony UK label, hopefully they will be releasing something soon. From what I can find on the web, they have two videos, and here they are:

Wonderful Life

Blood, Tears & Gold

You can find them on the web here.

Sad News - A-Ha Calls It A Day

A-Ha announced that the band will split the end of next year, holding their last concert in Oslo in December. Blogger xolondon posted a link to a BBC article [link here] that gives December 4 as the date of the final gig. He went on to post a link to this video, which is just gorgeous.

If you enjoy music, check out xolondon's blog here or follow him on Twitter here. Good stuff!

New Music - Erik Hassle - Hurtful

There seems to be a new talent lighting up in the UK, and his name is Erik Hassle. He is Swedish, and it seems as though the Swedes are taking over the music world. For the last few years they have been writing most of the hits pop songs out there, but now they seem to want to sing them too.

I don't know a whole lot about Hassle, except he is str8 and looks [to me] a bit like Lyle Lovett and, like Lovett, can sing the crap out of a song. Hurtful is Electro-Pop at it's finest.

I found this on Twitter, of all places, by following XOLondon [@xolondon] and checking out his block, Middle Eight. To find out more about Erik Hassle, check out his official website here.
