Happy Birthday, Rickey & SIRPAUL!

Two amazing people are celebrating birthdays today. First I shall mention SIRPAUL, a singer/songwriter/producer also known as New York's King of ElectroPop. SIRPAUL just released a new single, Mistaken, off the Music & Me album. Prior to that, he had sung the theme song for the motion picture Going Down In La-La Land.

I just love SIRPAUL's music, I hear that soon, he will have another album coming out, and I can't wait! Interestingly enough, I went to see SIRPAUL in 2010, and the other birthday boy was there with me. I am speaking of my friend, Rickey of the renown Pop Culture blog, Rickey.Org. In fact, Rickey & I have been on several adventures together, from American Idol concerts to Broadway shows, and so much more. I have been able to take his photograph with some fun people, in several different states.

You can wish them a happy birthday on Twitter, either Rickey or SIRPAUL. Or you can stop by their websites, Rickey or SIRPAUL. You can also purchase SIRPAUL's latest single on iTunes or you can find his catalog on Amazon. And be sure to wish them a great day!

New SIRPAUL Video Debuts

SIRPAUL

SIRPAUL

SIRPAUL™ conitnues his string of phenomenal videos with his latest release, Going Down In La-La Land. The song was written by Carly Emerick and Hoyt Emerick, and peroformed and produced by, SIRPAUL, as the title track from the film of the same name. The video was directed by Mark Odgers and it has amazingly fluid movement, especially considering there is footage of SIRPAUL cut with footage from the film. The film will be released soon, and is directed by the talented Casper Andreas. Take a watch!

Damn, doesn't SIRPAUL look fantastic! Another great song to add to my library. You can purchase the single on iTunes here. For more about SIRPAUL and his music, check out his official website here. For more about the movie, check out the official FaceBook page here. Keep an eye out, for it is starting to show up at festivals, including OUTFEST during LA Pride.

SIRPAUL Goes Down On Video Preview

Going Down In La-La Land Preview

SIRPAUL™ chats with hunky video director Mark Odgers about their upcoming video for his latest single, going Down In La-La Land. The song, featured in the upcoming theatrical release of the same name by director Casper Andreas, was released earlier this week. But I'll let SIRPAUL and Mark tell you all about it.

You can purchase the song on iTunes here. You can find out more about SIRPAUL on his official website here. For more information about the film, you can find it on FaceBook here or on the web here.

SIRPAUL Is Going Down In La-La Land

Going Down In La-La Land

SIRPAUL™ took a few moments to chat about a new single, the theme to Going Down In La-La Land. I wanted to know what it was like to work on a film soundtrack. "This is the first time I've ever recorded a song for a motion picture soundtrack," he answered. "Its actually a really interesting story... Candy Apple Blue (the ElectroPop Rock Band comprised of the brother/sister duo Carly & Hoyt Emerick) wrote the song and had produced it as a more mellow, downtempo song and submitted it for the film. Casper Andreas (the director of the movie) felt that the original song was really strong but didn't fit the exact vibe of the movie. In a last attempt to get the song on the soundtrack, Hoyt & Carly hit me up and asked if I would do a remix of the song. I had previously remixed their song I Won't Say Adieu from Casper Andreas' film Between Love and Goodbye so we had "virtually" worked together previously but they completely trusted me to give it an extreme makeover on a 24hr deadline....luckily, they really liked what I came up with."

As a fan of SIRPAUL's music, I know he writes everything that appears on his albums. So, how was it singing a song that wasn't his? "This is the first time I've ever recorded a song someone else wrote," he said, confirming my suspicions. "There was originally another guy singing Going Down in La-La Land. He is Trym Killi and has a fantastic voice...so when Casper suggested that I re-record the song, singing it myself, I was really nervous! How was I gonna make it my own?? I was on a really tight deadline and in the middle of starting to tour so I just said yes, ran into the studio and made it happen. It took a lot of letting go but I'm always up for a challenge and I'm really proud of what Hoyt, Carly & I created together."

SIRPAUL

And, since I know SIRPAUL has managed to make such a strong visual statement with every project he is part of, from album covers to videos, I had to ask an obvious question, is there a video in the offing? "Yes, there is a video coming, it's finished and it looks beautiful" he explains proudly. "The video should premiere online next week! It was directed by Mark Odgers (who directed my video for Objectified) and contains some footage from the original motion picture along with scenes we shot on location in NYC around Lincoln Center in the middle of the night. We almost got arrested several times...it was fun!"

Kickstart Going Down In LA-LA Land

Going Down In LALA LAnd

Going Down In LALA LAnd

I was late to this party, but it certainly seems like one worth attending. Writer/Director Casper Andreas is looking to secure the final bit of funding to complete the film that is so nearly finished, he has made a clip available. And it looks pretty damn interesting, and good! The funding is 76% pledged, but there is only 9 more days - fundraising closes on April 29th.

The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Zeffer. It is a candid, sexy, and outrageously funny look at what and actor can -- and will do -- to survive in Hollywood. This dark comedy takes a riveting and uncensored look at our celebrity-obsessed culture and some people's need to be loved, adored, and adulated at any cost!

Going Down In La La Land

Like our other films "Going Down in LA-LA Land" was made on a very low budget, thanks to an amazing and hardworking cast and crew. (I am familiar with several in the cast, including the delightful Bruce Vilanch, Judy Tenuta, and Alec Mapa. Love them!) Still it's our most ambitious and expensive film to date, and we are out of funds. To cover the final costs of finishing the film (color corrections, sound mixing, credits) as well as promotional expenses (poster artwork, website, festival submissions) we need your support. Donate what you can and please help us spread the word about this campaign on facebook, twitter, and email.

Going Down In LALA LAnd

Please help us finish the film by essentially pre-ordering the DVD for $30, (Check out all the great rewards offered to the left: premiere tickets! signed DVDs! your name in the film's credits! You can click on the widget below to find out what you will get in return for your investment! There are only a few days left, and if they don't meet the goal, no money will be collected. But don't be afraid to step up and place your money where your heart is, and support this movie now. Don't wait for it to be on your cue in Netflix, order it now with a simple pledge of $30.
