Brett Every • Close

Man, when it comes down to it, I just LOVE the music of Aussie musician Brett Every. I've been a fan for since the first time I saw the video for Prince Charming, from the 2009 album Fairy Godmother's Gone To Vegas, the second of 3 albums in his discography. And I just discovered this new video for another song off the album, Close. The video is really a slide show of images of male couples over the years, courtesy of Bob Young. You can see more here.

Obviously, Brett is an out and proud gay man. And for those interested in the pictures, he also suggested you find John Ibson's book Picturing Men: A Century of Male Relationships in Everyday American Photography. You can find it on Amazon here. To purchase this song on iTunes, click here to get to the album on iTunes, and for Amazon, click here. His most recent release, the beautiful Menu, can be found on iTunes here, and Amazon here. I have all three albums, and love them all. I bet you would too! To get more information about Brett Every, check out his official website here.

Man Walks Into A Bar Video

Brett Every

Fresh off Brett Every's latest release, Man Walks Into A Bar marks the first video from the wonderful album, Menu. The song also features Jeremy Brennan. Brett is a talented Australian singer/songwriter who combines a great depth with a sense of the quirky that I find irresistible. And it is certainly found in the new video. I love the way the video plays with communication and technology.

Next there is a sweet song from the Fairy Godmother's Gone To Vegas album. Every delivers a love song with a sweetness and simplicity that is just perfect. This is Close.

Next up, I found a video of Brett singing To Sir With Love, a cover of the Lulu song, featuring Estelle Noonan. I don't think Every has ever recorded it, at least not on any of the three albums I have in my collection. But this is just lovely.

Finally, I thought I would offer a look at a live performance of Devereaux from the album Camping Out. This is taken live featuring the talents of Jeremy Brennan & Stuart West. I love the sultry feel of two men singing a love song with this retro feel.

You can easily find Brett Every's music online. Menu can be found on iTunes and Amazon.com. Fairy Godmother's Gone To Vegas can be found on iTunes and Amazon.com. Camping Out can be found on iTunes and Amazon.com. FYI: In each case, it is cheaper to download from Amazon. Who knew? I didn't, but I can tell you what I know: I have all three albums, and am damn glad I do. Brett Every is a musician and artist I am proud to support.

New Video - Brett Every

brett every brett every

I received the most charming email recently, and I have been in such a whirlwind as of late, I am just getting around to bringing it to the blog. So he wrote to introduce himself, an out and proud gay Australian man based in Sydney, and a singer/songwriter. Well, Brett, I am pleased to make your acquaintance, and thank you for sharing your music. He sent a link to the video for his original song, Prince Charming, and I really like it.

That song is from his latest release, Fairy Godmother's Gone To Vegas, which is available on iTunes here. I just purchased it myself, and have enjoyed what I have listened to so far. Enjoyed it a lot. Among the songs on it are the song Close.

From his first album, Camping Out, includes a Rodgers & Hart classic given a new spin. He Was Too Good To Me is a beautiful song.

Brett is taking the world by storm, one Pride Festival at a time. His world tour includes Pride festivals in Milwaukee June 13, as well as Helsinki, Finland, and Munich, Germany, in July. Check out his website here, and his MySpace here.
