To continue with the Christmas celebrations, here is John Lennon and Yoko Ono, along with the Plastic Ono Band and the Harlem Community Choir taking the #6 spot on the chart with Happy Xmas (War is Over). He released the first version of the song in 1971. It is an incredible song written by Lennon.
'Tis the season to be jolly, and can you go wrong by listening to the incredible music of activist/cancer-survivor/musician extraordinaire Melissa Etheridge? She has been a shining example for so many, whether it be standing tall as an out lesbian throughout her career, or the honesty of her cancer experience, or her unfailing support of equality. Here she is performing a John Lennon classic, Happy Xmas (War Is Over).
Melissa has maintained a high profile since her first album, a self-titled release in 1988. She not only has spoken about LGBT issues, but also the environment and others. She won an Academy Award in 2006 for I Need To Wake Up from An Inconvenient Truth. And in 2004, she was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, and performed at the 2005 Academy Awards with shorn hair, having lost it during treatment.
